I have a student who has both 2018 and 2019 installed. He says the 2018 installation has become unstable/unusable since he installed 2019.
Based on the feedback from various users on this effect, a fix would be to uninstall 2018, and then re-install it. However he's reluctant to do that because he's concerned that the reverse effect may also apply (ie, installing 2018 damages 2019) and leave him with 2 unusable installations. The commentary I've seen suggests that a 2018 install doesn't impact 2019. However, I would like some comment from those who have experienced a damaged 2018 as a result of 2019, and re-installed 2018 with specific reference to any impact on 2019.
In the past this would have been a clear-cut no. But nobody expected the effects of 2019 on 2018: ambushed by incompetence, and I know there are a number of outstanding bug issues arising from that that have not been rectified as yet.
So, comments on this please.

Re: 2018 unusable after 2019 installed
Not to the point that VS 2018 is unusable. Just the reported cases where the Home tab in VS 2018 disappears after VS 2019 is installed; plus the same thing happening to one or two of the third party plug-ins (Boris?).
