Relink Issue But Link Still There?

Post by Furor4Celtica »

Hi

I purchased a preview file of a .MOV clip for a history video project. I then bought the full version. In my downloads file, it plays fine in the 'films & tv' app of Windows when I double click it.

However when I add the file to the storyboard in Corel, I get the black/white strip in the story line. My understanding is this means the file is not where it was originally.

This confuses me as the file is in my downloads so surely it is not a relink issue? Other files in the same downloads file are playing fine?

Also when I play the file in movie programs on my PC it works, but it is just black/blank screen when I play the clip in Corel Studio.

Please see attached screencap, any help would be greatly appreciated.

In fact that black and white does not indicate a relink is necessary. It's an indication that VS cannot read the file for some reason. Usually, this is because it can't find the right codec. Now, some of the other player programs come with the Quicktime .mov codec already included, but VS does not. So have you manually installed the .mov codec?

If not, go to https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837?view ... cale=en_US and you'll see the Download button up at the top. When you go to install it, you will have a dialogue box like that in my attached image. Only install the Essentials part -- so make sure all the other entries have an X showing, as in the image.

You can tell if the quicktime mov codec is installed by checking the control panel/programs and features page: it's organised alphabetically, and in the 'Q' section there will be an entry for Quicktime7 - even if all you have is the codec.
