How to restore the paramater-controls for the magic wand

Post by Sceptic »

Until shortly, my magic wand showed several "Parameters" when selected, very similar to those I still find for the IInteklligent brush"
(? - since my installation is in German, so I can only guess what it is called in English) namely "Add" or "Subtract", "Tolerance".
Presently, I find only a button to load "Presets" (? but have none), and two icons "Magic Fill" and "Magic Move" (both in ENGLISH).
What can I do to restore the parameter-controls?

Can you provide a screenshot of what your menu bar looks like when you have the Magic Wand selected?

I just checked. The controls are all there in the Essentials workspace.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

You might need to reset your PSP. With the program closed, hold the Shift button when you click to open the PSP desktop icon. You will be asked if you want to reset it. Make sure you save any customized Workspace first.

You could try a reset to default. Here are the instructions and be sure to save your workspace if you have made customizations. The article references X6 but applies to all versions of PSP.

Thank you! I symply reset the workspace and it helped. But now, I'll have to do some homework to have all buttons where I want them. But, of course, I would have liked to avoid this, because it means some work for me to bring all buttons back to the places where I want them.

Sorry - it worked in thes sense that the controls were there again. But they didn't work as usual: The magic wand now selects vague areas instead of creating exact borders. (Maybe it just follows present political tendencies?.) In this (and many other cases) the contrast is so sharp that nearly any parameters should lead to a success - but see the atachment instead
Then, I reset the whole program (not only the workspace), but to no effect - or perhaps, the problem became worse. I remamber vaguely that I had a simmilar problem before, which in the end, was cured only by completely reinstalling the Program.

Do you have any other proposal?
