VS2018 - Pan-Zoom panoramic photo not working

Post by RDK45 »

I'm using VS2018 on a Windows 10 Pro computer. I just tried to create a video from a panoramic photo of the Alps. I've use pan-zoom before in other projects without issues. The original photo was 20000x3500 pixels and 40 mb. I reduced it to 1024x160 and 100 kb, but it still would not work. Here is a screen capture of the pan-zoom window and an example panoramic photo:https://drive.google.com/open?id=1m2yOG ... 7uY4SZlTlm

Can I do this? I want 40 second Pan&Zoom of this photo. I would prefer to use the full resolution photo to have the best clarity. Thanks...RDK

Generally when using Pan & Zoom on an image larger than the video dimensions, the rendered output looks terrible in VS - see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64068&hilit=panoramic&start=28

Not sure I understand, How do I find out the "video dimensions"? The file I posted to the Google Share was only 1024x160, is even that too large?...RDK

Pls read the previously suggested thread.

You decide on the video dimension before rendering.

I frequently use large pans. First, use Micrososoft Image Composition Editor (ie ICE), a free program to stitch and crop the pan.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=52459

When you save the stitch, set the height to 1080 pixels (height for HD in NTSC), the width will adjust automaticly. Import that into VS then P&Z the image.

I tried this. My stitched panorama is now, height 1080 and width 6883. My project setting are "online" and MPEG-4 1920x1080.

I get the same results when I try to do a pan&zoon. Please note in screen shot of the Pan&Zoom window on my VS2018 (above link) that the screen box which I usually try to associate with beginning, end and in-between keys, is "split" and that I am not able to create boxes for any other keys.

Thanks...RDK

Now I understand. This is a known defect and has been posted here in the forum. Best solution is to use Customize Motion instead of P&Z.

Any details on the procedure with Custom Motion or prior references?....RDK

I spent some time with the image you provided. The time to do the pan was less than a minute but trying to minimize parts of the source picture took about five minutes. If you don't know how to access Customize Motion, just ask.

Download five files from my Box account to see my settings:
