Playing a video repetitively

Post by Davidk »

I've had a hospital pass to make a video for an event and play it repetitively when it's on.
Making the video is easy enough, but playing it end to end, then start all over again, on auto, isn't something I've done before. It's not really a VS problem. But does anyone know how to get a common player like VLC to do that - play a video clip on a loop: when it gets to the end, it starts again from the beginning, on auto?

At least two ways to do that David - either burn a DVD (in VS ) but before clicking 'Burn' in the burn module click the gear wheel type icon in the bottom left corner and click to tick the 'Auto repeat when disc playback ends' option - works on most DVD players I have come across - OR - if you want to use VLC media player there are 6 icons in the bottom left corner - the middle one of the last three toggles between 'Loop All, Loop one and no loop'

Hi BJC,
VLC fits the need at the moment. I found those icons: I assume the default is no loop (since whenever I have used VLC, it doesn't loop), one of the other 2 has a small '1' between the arrows and the last one seems visually the same as the the first, which I assume is the default. Once toggled, only by counting in 3's do you get back to the default. Not very friendly, which is unusual for VLC; if a toggle is to be used my experience elsewhere is that the value of the toggle at the current setting is indicated.
Any suggestions for interpreting the value indicated by that icon at the current setting?

Update
Experimented with this using a short clip - only about 10 sec.
The toggle that looks the same as the assumed default actually has a slight coloration difference (a bluish tinge, and the arrows seem to move very slightly), and that is the loop every time setting.
