Is it possible to personalize Icons associated to Scripts?
Good afternoon to all,
the question is in the subject ...
More precisely I wish to substitute some Icons with some others more mnemonic to me while Scripts recalling.
I think that this question is more pertinent to PSP than to Scripting.
Thank you.

Re: Is it possible to personalize Icons associated to Script
I have not used scripts in a while, so I went to refresh myself on assigning icons to scripts. I recall from several years ago that doing a new script and assigning an icon was not so very much different from MS Word. Imagine my surprise, then, when I could not find a function for assigning/reassigning icons to scripts. I can edit a script -- a lovely function, that. But I cannot find an icon feature.
I recall that various MS Office apps used to have a feature where one could change an icon, pixel by pixel. Cumbersome, but doable. I'm not sure how practical that would be with today's icon sizes in PSP. Many icons, three sizes each. I guess we could build them -- especially if they were one-off, as OP suggests. I can see why the devs have kept away from this.

Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Re: Is it possible to personalize Icons associated to Script
The info on how to do this is in the Help file and pdf manuals. Go to Customize and select the Scripts tab. Browse to the script you want to bind to an icon in the upper field, then scroll through the (unfortunately) limited types of icons available below that, click on one of them to select it, hid the Bind button, and it will appear in the bottom field. Then drag that icon to whatever toolbar on which you want to place it.ehume wrote:I have not used scripts in a while, so I went to refresh myself on assigning icons to scripts. Re: Is it possible to personalize Icons associated to Script
Hi to all,
sorry for my absence.
I have read your replies. The only thing to do is waiting for a PSP upgrade.
OK, 50 icons is a good number but that they are similar five by five (the only and slighty difference is in the color) has no practical nor mnemonic use for me. Five slighty different stars? Five Saturns? Five cubes? Naah
.
Probably (or surely ...) the icons are hidden somewhere but I have no time to spend for searching them
. Maybe they are crypted, maybe they are included in some other object and are not a stand alone object: so please PSP, do something

Paolo

Re: Is it possible to personalize Icons associated to Script
People have been asking Corel to make it possible to personalize icons for more years than I can remember but they haven't done so. So don't hold your breath. I doubt that they are even considering it as an option.

Re: Is it possible to personalize Icons associated to Script
Corel has been hinting at this functionality for years. I don't remember when it was introduced but back in X2 your menu items could only be customized with a new name. Then sometime between X3 and X6 they introduced this button appearance customize dialog for menu items.
You'll notice the perpetually greyed out option for a user defined image.
There was a topic on here before, can't remember what it was called where we discovered that a cached version of the icon file exists on the harddrive and so long as you had an editor that can keep the ico bitmap format (for transparency) you could edit exiting icons. Not add new ones but meh. It wouldn't actually require editing the resources of a DLL to do it.

Re: Is it possible to personalize Icons associated to Script
PSP appears to use the old -- and good -- Office method of moving icons around. It is interesting that they did not include the build-your-own option of icon-making. Even OpenOffice allows you to import icons. It is all very puzzling.
Edit: I have the greyed-out text in PSPx4.
