Clone tool turns entire picture black

Post by Tony Futcher »

I just purchased Corel PaintShop Pro 2019 Ultimate. Unfortunately, just as in my 2018 version, whenever I try to use the clone tool, and right click on the picture I am working with, the entire picture turns black. The circle to select the area to clone can be seen, but nothing on the picture itself. When I click on any other tool, the picture reappears. It is only the clone tool which does this. Scratch remover, etc work fine.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Hi Tony,
try to reset the program to its initial state : launch it while maintaining the shift key down...
Hope this helps...

Jean-Luc, that seems to have worked. Thank you very much. Just hope I don't have to apply this too frequently. I'd hate to keep losing all my settings!

Tony, save your workspace before resetting the program & that will preserve your settings.

I quite agree. Save your workspace before resetting the program. Give it a name that explains what it is for (e.g. PSP 2019 1). Then reset and you can reload all your customizations (I am up to PSP 2018 - 24 because I save the workspace every time I alter it; obsessive, I know).
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
