I have not replied for so long, because I became completely frustrated. Core'ls latest soluton was to do a Clean up to delete Version 2019 and re-install the software (again). I have done this but the problems persists. Having just bought Version 2019 in December, I am loathe to buy Version 2020 which may well have the same proble. I have reopened my ticket with Corel but am not hopeful of a solution, gien my history on this one!

This is likely due to an incompatible project size or setting. If your project is set to 1920x1080 and you try to import a video file that is not that size, often the application will just crash. This is the case with some images too. Everything must be sized to the working project file to ensure the best editing. This is not how it was in previous versions. Now, all older files that are being imported into VSUlt are opened on another workstation running VS9 and exported with similar output settings to the target project. On crash there is no easy way to determine the error report being generated. This solution was found through trial and error.

Thanks. I'll check this when I have time. At the moment I have given up for a while, because I have got so frustrated.

My saga continues. After many, many suggestions from Corel, none of which soled the problem, I decided to download a trial version of Videostudio2020. This appeared to work for a while while editing. The only problem was that the latest version does not recognise my .MOV clips that I imported from my iPhone. I had to carry our another step and convert them to mp4 files. This is a decrease in functionality from all previous versions. However, I mostly managed to finish editing the proect with only the occassional crash. Yesterday I tried to look at it with my wife and it crashed every other minute! I am despairing! It seems nothing will fix it. I certainly wont be buying Videostudio 2020.

It is likely that your .mov file may be of a different project size. Just check your phone video settings and make sure they match your project settings. Transferring to mp4 does waste time. And this program, with the constant crashes (lazy programmers), eats up so much production time it's hard to stay within quotes. A 5 hr editing session is eaten up by dealing with these types of issues. So I feel for ya. By any chance, when you reopened the file, did you move it to another directory or is any of the source material (ie filters, mask, sound) on a network computer that is not connected? The relinking feature has become a nightmare and is so flawed. Even creating a project file is useless because it leaves out core elements so the package is incomplete, which causes constant crashing on reopen... all the best

Do you have the required codec installed? If not then install it.

VS struggles with variable frame rate video which undoubtedly these iPhone video use. VFR videos will require conversion to a fixed frame rate format before adding them to a VS project.
