Removing default Christmas template from VS9

Post by rsgrewal »

I am doing a straight copy from DV to DVD, but cannot find a way of turning off the christmas theme/template. Does anyone know how I can do this?

If your just doing a straight copy DVD to DVD you do not need to use VideoStudio at all, just use the disc copy software which is usually supplied with a burner (Roxio, Nero or whatever) and use the 'disc copy' option.

If you really want to use VideoStudio then do not use the wizard - use the full editor and you will not be bothered by the Christmas theme.

Hi

Make sure you have the latest ‘Indeo Driver ‘installed.

The library and templates may not work without it.

Any help on this? Anyone know how we can get a blank template with no music, backgrounds, etc? Just some auto chapters?

I'd love to go straight from DV to DVD as the software suggests is possible without the damn Christmas theme.

Just use the VideoStudio Editor, not the Wizard.

Hi rsgrewal
I had the same problem, did not realize that the Christmas template was in there as default using the wizzard and messed up a disk. I found that using the editor did the trick. I am new to VS9 so can't say much but I am not sure why there is a default template there anyway. You must have a choice of others as I downloaded tons of extras from the Ulead website. I did try to figure out how to get rid of the Christmas template but could not figure it out. I am not so sure anyone has offered an answer to your question just a work around.

Thanks Steve, I think I have everything downloaded off the Ulead website and using the smart download in the program. I don't see anything but the Christmas layout in the theme template window of the movie wizard. I downloaded tons of stuff via the smart download but nothing else in there. I just can't believe that there is only one template in the wizard after downloading so many extras, updates and using the download wizard. Any suggestions?

Hi Ray,

After downloading the content packs, did you install them? You have to select each downloaded file and install. The files downloaded using Smart Download should be located the Smart Download folder, C:/Program Files/Ulead Systems/Smart Download.

Hi Ron
Yes I found the Smart Download folder and I am pretty sure I got them all installed one at a time. I would think there would be many templates, do you know which file it is that contains the templates. I could install it again.
Thanks Ray

The Movie Wizard Templates are located here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\EditingStyle
And more specifically here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\EditingStyle\Style\General\NTSC (For NTSC)
and
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\EditingStyle\Style\General\PAL (For PAL)

They appear to have been written in a computer language like C++ or Deplhi or one of the other similar types of languages and so a bit beyond us mere mortals being able to create our own!
You should have 13 in total (Isn't that an unlucky number?)
Athletics
Birthday
Christmas
Classic
Drive-In-Movie
Education
General
Love
MTV
School
Spring Celebration
Summer Beach
Template-none.

Anything that involves editing a critical program file and any other changes to it can cause the program not to run properly. If you encounter problems with the software and ask for Technical support, the TS guys may not be able to give the exact solution because the program has been tampered. Tech Support can never know for sure what other values are changed so its better to be safe. Its like voiding the warranty of a certain electrical device by removing a jumper or modifying its circuit. Make sure you backup those files and revert it to the original one and then ask for TS assistance.

It is covered in the EULA under "2. Use of Software: You may not: 4) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble or otherwise attempt to discover the source code of the software"
