After uploading (using Share) to YT, should you (using Share again) render the project to your computer (to save it), or should you render it to your computer first? And what is the difference between render and Save As?
Thanks to all!

Re: Uploading to YouTube
"File >> Save As" simply saves the project file (the .vsp) with a different name .. doesn't actually do any thing to the project or video
I always render out a video file first primarily because it allows you to watch your video in another application just to ensure it is exactly what you waned to make and also because you then have a video file on your computer to watch at any time
I am not a great fan of uploading to Youtube from within Videostudio because I am never sure exactly what is uploading .. I prefer to render out a video .. see what it looks and sounds like .. then upload that to Youtube direct

Re: Uploading to YouTube
Thanks, BJC. Do you mean render it first to your computer using Share, then going to your YT account to upload to YT?
If you do it this way, does it automatically upload at 1080p?
This is my first one, AS YOU CAN TELL.

And a postscript - - when you go to YT, do you upload the Share/render project file or the original file?

Re: Uploading to YouTube
If you render your new video (share) select the proper format (usually MP4), bellow in the window you can select some options keep them for 1080 if you want. Bellow is a box for the name and target folder of the new video.Shepdog1 wrote:And a postscript - - when you go to YT, do you upload the Share/render project file or the original file?
When it is done, open your YT account and go to upload, select your video from the folder above and atart the upload. YT will keep the video format.
That is all.

Re: Uploading to YouTube
Before uploading, you should render your video in a format that YouTube recommends or you may see weird affects when playing back your video on YouTube. Some of the recommendations for videos uploaded to YouTube include:Shepdog1 wrote:when you go to YT, do you upload the Share/render project file or the original file?

Re: Uploading to YouTube
You do seem a little confused about the way Videostudio works Shepdog
when you put your clips etc. in the timeline and edit them and click 'Save' you are not saving a video file ... you are saving a small text file that remembers what you did and when you open the project again it puts everything back in the timeline just as it was when you saved
The only programme which can read that project file (.vsp) is Videostudio , it is no good at all trying to upload that to any where, Youtube will not recognise it .. and even if it did it could not show anything because there is no video to show
So when ever you want a video which can be seen by others .. not on Videostudio ... is to go to "Share" and create a video file .. this is the process known as rendering .. so even if you open the project and upload to Youtube then Videostudio will need to render that project to a video file before it will be accepted and if anything is likely to change the properties of your video then it is the share section of Videostudio which YOU have not set to the correct parameters
which is why I said previously it is best to Share / Render and create a video file using the settings YOU told it to use .. then when you have a video file you can watch it in Windows media player , VLC player or whatever is your favourite media player so you can check it first .... then upload the rendered and checked video to Youtube
