Creating new selections

Creating new selections
Ive had multiple versions of this program over the past decade, but now that I have a new computer I was forced to buy the 2019 version, as the last version I had was PSP14. My issue is now, I can't cut and/or copy a selection from one item to put into another. It is always grayed out, unless I use the original item only. Any help on this would be great. Yes, I have it in edit mode, layers are up, as I have done so with all previous versions of this program.

The selection is copied inside the selection of the target image.
It works as expected on my PSP 2019.

PSP14 = PSPx4. Things may have changed (I'll look later). Ctrl-V no longer means 'paste,' as it does in Windows-compliant apps and as it did in PSP7. Now You must right-click and choose from the various Pastes in your context menu (there are multiple context menus; you can customize each one) or Edit > various pastes. Alternately, use Ctrl-Shift-V, Shift-Insert or Ctrl-e (= Paste as New Selection).
Edit1: I looked at PSPx4 (= PSP14). The Paste options are the same as PSP20 (= PSP 2018). Can't say what the problem is.
Edit2: I looked at PSP 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, x4, x10 (PSP 2018). The sole option for paste as a new image was ctrl-V through PSP8. In PSP9, Shift-Insert was added to Paste as a new image. This was still present for PSP11. By PSPx4 (PSP14), Paste as a new image was Ctrl-shift-V and Shift-Insert. No more mere Ctrl-V.

Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Jean-luc... grayed are the options to paste of new layer, new selection.. I can paste as new image but kinda defeats the purpose.
Ehume... tracking... normal do ctrl-e for new selection but that does not work. I right click it only allows for new image.. if I go to the edit tab on the menu, it only allows for new image...

Or do you work differently ?
