Just to add, I can now edit and produce HEVC video, including 4K HEVC, on my computer. However, this only occurred when a remote session on my computer with Corel to look into the HEVC problem, resulted in a wider problem with the computer that necessitated a total reinstall of Windows 10. That of course also involved a reinstall of both VS and the Microsoft HEVC Extension. Now it works just fine, as it always did in competing software like Cyberlink Power Director and Vegas Movie Studio Pro.

While my problems started around the time of VS 2018, in the Windows reload I never reinstalled VS 2018, but instead used VS 2019 and now VS 2020. HEVC works in both, but I am unable to comment on whether it might have worked also in VS 2018.

Hi
I was able to import the sample to Video Studio 2020 although a little slow
Had to use Smart Proxy with playback poor but I would think be able to edit provided the Share step produced good quality

Using 2018 I dragged and dropped the file to the timelines, the program did its “not responding” but task manager showed some activity so I gave it a little time, a long time eventually I closed the program
2018 again using import to library, as soon as I selected the clip again Not Responding

Back to 2020 which imported the file without problems, a couple of seconds delay to show on timelines, but program remained working.
Rendered clip using Share Same as Project, rendering was slow although I guess that’s relative
Properties were similar although Data Rate was reduced to 47Mb from 65Mb

Windows Media Player was the only program to play the clip with good quality, there was a pulse or pause in playback noticeable when viewing the ski lift to the right( original Clip)
Rendered clip using 2020 did not show the ski lift pulse, I would think the pulse is my pc and not the clip.

Back to 2028 new clip opened ok, original again froze the program.
Using CVS2019 imported ok as CVS2020

Appears 2018 has problems with this file

Post Updated

I have uploaded the 2020 sample to my one drive here

Just to add... As I said above, I cannot test in VS 2018 as it is not on this computer. However, with VS 2020, like Trevor/lata, I had no trouble at all importing, playing and re-rendering the clip. When I inserted it in the timeline (which took 10 seconds to open it fully), I got the usual message asking if I wanted the Project Properties to match those of the clip. A good sign, and I of course said OK. The video played fine in both VS and VLC Player. In VS 2020 I rendered it using Same As Project Settings, and got those settings including the full 60292 kbps bitrate. So at least no trouble with VS 2020...

Thank you so much for testing my video so quickly, Trevor and Ken. Now I can upgrade to 2020 with confidence it will work.
