VideoStudio 2019 Poor Video Preview Quality
Hi, I'm new to video editing and wanted to give Corel Videostudio a try, among a couple of others I'm trying. I recently downloaded the 2019 trial version onto my Windows 10 laptop. When I preview video clips, the quality is horrible and I cannot figure out how to fix it (or if it's fixable). I will say the .mov clips seem to be better than the .mp4 clips, but still a little choppy (they look like stop motion videos). The attached picture is just a snippet of what the video (a .mp4 file) looks during preview. The clips play beautifully using either Quicktime or the default video player windows has to offer. They are 1920 x 1080 videos. The other video editing softwares don't seem to have to this problem so I'm really confused. I think I like the GUI of this SW better so I'm hoping this can be fixed or is a Trial verison problem? I've tried different settings under "Project Properties" and disabled and re-enabled smart proxy and I'm having no luck. Thanks for any help!

Re: VideoStudio 2019 Poor Video Preview Quality
Hi,
I am also playing with a trial version of VS2019 and I have same issue.
Even video samples in VS2019 are problematic.
I am trying to move from Adobe Premiere Elements, tested lots of video editors and I had no issue at all with playback.
I would be happy to solve this problem as I am thinking of buying a bundle.

If your source video is of decent quality then there is an issue with the trial version as I've never seen such a distorted preview in the fully licensed version. I'd suggest purchasing a fully licensed version and see if the problem persists and if it does then Corel offers a 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee (http://apps.corel.com/lp/wpox3/2413/pop.html) if you're dissatisfied with your purchase.jcbil wrote:I'm hoping this can be fixed or is a Trial verison problem?

The Trial version is limited in functionality and does not offer complete file support or features, mp4 could be an affected feature

I have the same problem:-(
Re: VideoStudio 2019 Poor Video Preview Quality
I have the same problem... Anyone found the solution?
I installed the trial version Video Studio 2019 and whatever video i load into the video track it is Choppy... Ive tried changing all settings. I am using an MP4 video file 1920 x 960. Ive matched the project settings to the video and still the same. Ive tried all other project settings and I've turned off and on hardware/software acceleration and nothing changes. (Plus restarted many times)
I decided to try another software Hitfilm Free to see if it was my PC and this worked perfectly. All HD quality. I really want to use Corel but this problem is driving me crazy. Ive updated all drivers/changes settings in windows and the software and can't work it out.
is it the trial only? Anyone else had any problem and then tried the pay version?

Re: VideoStudio 2019 Poor Video Preview Quality
Unfortunately, this would appear to be a limitation of the trial version, have you tried enabling Smart Proxy
Here is a snapshot taken from the full version of VS2019, the video in the timeline is 3840x2160 25fps, HEVC_UHD_MP4
The video itself plays without any stutter or distortion
You can try the full version and if not satisfied with the results, can claim a full refund, providing the claim is made within 30 days of purchase
