2019 pan and zoom problems
I just bought VS 2019 ultimate. Yesterday I made a video using mainly customize motion. I worked with it all day, ended up with 16 overlay tracks. It worked great. Today I tried some pan and zooms. I can't do more that 2 consecutive pan and zoom effects without it crashing with an "insufficient memory" error. It's true I only have 8 gigs of ram, but VS X10 never did this. When I finally finished the video, after exiting and re-entering the program about 10 times, it rendered perfectly in just a few minutes! (I thought rendering put the most strain on a PC.)The other video with the 16 overlays also rendered perfectly. Also, when using the pan and zoom on some pictures the frame would come apart and only the left 3/4 of the frame would expand, while the right 1/4 froze. The odd thing is it only happens on some photos and not on others. My version number is 22.2.0.396. Will a future patch fix the pan and zoom I wonder?

Re: 2019 pan and zoom problems
I'm thinking out loud here - after a crash some of the processes could be left running (not closed). Open Windows Task Manager to see if vstudio.exe is still listed. If so, select it and end the process then relaunch VS2019.

Here is a screen shot of the broken frame problem. It only happens on some photos. And I discovered that if I use a photo editor and make this same photo a little bigger, the frame works correctly.

Re: 2019 pan and zoom problems
Hi
Yes I am seeing the same unusual behaviour when using portrait images not only when using the zoom but on the timelines as well.
Even viewing images in the library get distorted stretched horizontally.
Very strange
It does appear to be when using odd sized images. Portrait at 1080 x 1920 seem ok
What is the original size / resolution of your image.

Re: 2019 pan and zoom problems
Have had this in previous versions as well.
Check your Settings > Preferemces > Edit > Image > Image resampling and set it to Keep aspect ratio. Setting this to Fit to project size will cause the distortion.

Re: 2019 pan and zoom problems
Hi
Attached is a jpeg image 341 x 495 that is giving problems
Use a more standard portrait size and I do not have problems
VS 2018 is also causing issues managing images
1 / add image to top timeline, may look ok
2 / open Pan and Zoom
3 / Close pan and zoom by Cancel
4 / View preview window
5 / Open Pan and Zoom and drag yellow resize handles

Re: 2019 pan and zoom problems
I'm afraid the frame still splits when I use the resize handles. The only way this and a few other pictures will work properly is to use a photo editor to resize them to be bigger. then they work fine.
Thanks everyone for your responses. Now if I could just figure out why more than 3 or 4 pan and zooms causes "insufficient memory" crashes.

Re: 2019 pan and zoom problems
Hi Randy
I do agree with you that there does appear to be a problem when using some images, I was able to replicate your findings
I did report this to Corel but have not received a reply, the problem also seems to affect VS 2018.
When you return to the timelines from Pan and Zoom your image appears to be stretched horizontally, I can see that on the image you provided.
Another abnormality is that the library clips show the Pan and Zoom when it should only show on the timeline clip. Even shows after starting a new project, so if you reuse the same clip it already has P&Z applied.

Having the same problem with insufficient memory error then crash on pan and zoom of photos. Any thoughts??randy wright wrote: Now if I could just figure out why more than 3 or 4 pan and zooms causes "insufficient memory" crashes.

Re: 2019 pan and zoom problems
I just want to ascertain if there was any resolution to the P&Z issues (i realise that this was directed to VS2019)
I use VS2018 and the same splitting in P&Z occurs with 'some' jpegs not from photos but from the windows snipping tool.
I also noted opening perfectly functioning completed projects (.vsp) from VS X10 to add more content using VS2018 that things become unstuck in VS2018 usually relating to the pan & zoom with photos .. causing insufficient memory errors and other strange things when P&Z is updated or changed in the editing process. VS2018 P&Z has more options than VSX10 .. is this the problem .. and that my whole project has to be done again from scratch (10GB Blu Ray).
Can anyone confirm that the VS versions not actually not backwards compatible ? and that this has happened to you also.
My Projects starting in VS2018 from scratch do come out perfect.
Any comments would be appreciated
