HELP, VS9 won't work for more than 5 mins!

I have been doing the same type of video editing each week for awhile, since getting VS9 in April. After booting up my computer, i go into VS. After no more than 3 mins (literally, I watched the clock) it freezes, doing this reliably, it has done this in many projects. I clear the library after each project, so I doubt its a corrupt video file since it does this reliably. If it doesn't just freeze after 3 mins I get a message at 5 mins that reads "Out of Memory" after I click ok, it dissappears. I have 512 mb RAM, unfortunatly can't get any more RAM for awhile, but isn't 512 supposed to work? I have applied the patch, and that did absolutly NOTHING. What can I do? please HELP!

Could you provide more info about your PC Operating System, clock-speed, video driver, etc. Trial or Purchased version of VS9? Previous user of VS?

I only know that's the next questions folks will ask, because I've been searching the boards all weekend trying to figure out what's going on w/my VS9 install. I have been doing all the config suggestions I could find all weekend to figure out why I am crashing constantly too.

Win Xp Home, 3.4 Ghz, Purchased version, used Vs7 for about 6 moths prior to VS9 with no problems foing the same type of projects weekly.

Is your computer and VS just sitting idle when it freezes? If not can you provide more information as to what you are attempting to do when it freezes ?
Are there other programs running in the background?

there arent any programs running in the background, I just booted up my computyer, and loaded VS. The lockup occurs when I hit play project button.
