Make backdrop follow text in text animations [Ultimate 2019]

I've just bought VideoStudio Ultimate 2019, so I'm quite new to it (but I've got a fair experience with other video NLEs).

I can't find a way to make the backdrop follow the text it's bound to in text animations: once set an animation of any kind, the text behaves accordingly, while if I set a backdrop for the text, it stays in the text original position and does not move, while I would like it to follow its text during the animation. I've already tried to set the Backdrop type to «Fit with text» (and every backdrop shape as well) to no avail.

How can I obtain the backdrop to follow its text?

And welcome to the forums
The text backdrop is not one of the text editors best features

But if you set a backdrop and fix to text
Do not animate
Right click the text clip on the timeline and choose Customise Motion
Now this tool is worth its weight in gold.
If you have not used this is a bit of a learning curve but well worth the effort

Of course there are other tools we can use FX BCC and T3D come to mind

This is exactly what I was looking for! Also the project you've attached to your post has been extremely helpful. You're also right on the importance of the motion tool: though a little bit unintuitive, it's extremely powerful. Thank you lata!

Trevor, Had no problem downloading and renaming to remove .txt on the Win7 desktop, but when downloaded to the Win10 laptop, it downloads as Cammello text.VSP without the .txt extension so it is impossible to change from a text file to a .vsp file, now I do know at least, that is nothing to do with VS, strange though

Thats strange i would have though if you were to have a problem it would be windows 7

I have re-named the file removing the VSP altogether

Are you able to rename that file?

You seem to have the "show extensions" option disabled. Are the extensions for all files hidden?

Displaying the File Extension in Windows Vista and Windows 7
1. Click the Start menu. This is the round icon that is on the bottom left corner of your screen.
2. Type "folder options" (without the quotes). Click the line "Folder Options" that appears at the top of the Start menu.
3. A dialog box with the title "Folder Options" will appear. Click the "View" tab at the top of the window.
4. Click to uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types".
5. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Thanks canuck and Trevor, that fixed the problem, I am so aware of those kind of issues with Win 7, I should have realized that it would be something simple to correct, normally, that's the sort of thing I would have automatically checked on Win 7, just did not give it a thought on Win 10

Hello Trevor, I presume that this file is just for 2019 users. If I try to open it with 2018 the programme crashes.
I wonder if you have a 2018 version?

the attached should open from X9 onwards

once open play the project, then right click the file on the timelines for Customise Motion to view the settings

Thanks (yet again) Trevor, that works fine. The attached is how I have achieved this previously but Customise Motion seems much more versatile.
