VS 2018 cannot render 1080p or 4K out of Sony Alpha A6500
I am back again. I am starting to get really frustrated with VS. This is the third camera that VS cannot handle video files out of. This time out of an industry leading Sony Alpha camera. Starting to lose all respect for Corel. I could understand problems with the video some cheap Chinese knock-off camera, but this makes two of the most popular top of the line industry-leading models of cameras that VS cannot work with; the most popular smartphone in the world, the Samsung Galaxy, and now the the most popular APS-C mirrorless camera in the world the Sony Alpha.
So just like with the Samsung Galaxy S6, VS is completely screwing up the video out of my Sony A6500 camera. It does not matter if I am shooting in 1080p or 4K. Here are the native format specs for each.

So what is the problem now?

Hi
Are you able to provide a sample video file/s so we can test on our pc’s
You will have to upload to a sharing site, one drive. Google , dropBox etc.
If we have the same issues then you will be best in reporting this to Corel Support who should also ask for a sample.

Re: VS 2018 cannot render 1080p or 4K out of Sony Alpha A650
Guys, I am at my witts end here. I have been trying to render a 3-minute project of 4K video out of my Sony A6500 all day. This is a paid video for a customer who is waiting and tapping their foot. I have tried everything. I have had to chop the video up into 30-second clips and even then VS 2018 just crashes and turns off. No error code or anything. VS just shuts off and I have to reload it. I have restarted my computer a hundred times, shut down all background processes, turned off everything possible. It just won't render these files.
Can you suggest a real video editor to me, because I am done playing games with VS, and coming on this board asking for solutions to fix the program and been given workarounds to get around the problems. It's not your fault, but I want a program that actually works that I don't have to find workarounds for. I have hobbled along with VS for years in the hopes that Corel would get serious about VS and address the issues that we all know need addressing. But obviously, Corel has no interest in improving VS and turning it into a serious professional video editor. I have flat had it.

I cannot recommend you any NLE what has no problems. I was in TV business for ages and I saw the problems in every studio. I know a guy who purchased a very expensive NLE, during the years he invested another xx thousand $ into the NLE and the required HW. It does not help too much there will be always a format with compatibility problems.
One of the bigger studio has already 3 different NLE-s in the hope, that one of them will work with a given format. The main commercial TV station gave out a guideline what kind of streams are accepted and every cameraman should take care that his format is correct.
As already mentioned, in many of bigger studios we installed stream analyzers (>50.000$) just to get the information about the delivered or purchased videostreams. Upon this information the dispatcher decides on which NLE will be the post production.
Do not forget in the last 10-15 years the video formats are in boom, there are almost no two cameras which deliver the same video format, not to mention the phones and the DSlR cameras, which were never designed in full compliance to video standard requirements. You cannot expect from Corel (etc) to be up to date to every niche format, and do not forget, that maybe the given format disappears in 6-12 month completely.
The only thing what you can do is to send some stream to Corel and wait for their response. ( but it is exactly the same with every NLE vendor).

Jungle we all understand your issue but unless you give more clues, nothing can be done.
What is the main thing? VS crashes? or is it the quality of the render?
What type of edits do you do? just trimming or multi FX's and such?
Each of the above affects your problems. If you give us a 30sec clip and tell us what you did with it we can get you somewhere... or nowhere as you are now.

We did ask if you could make a small sample of the problem video available to see if we could reproduce the problem. That is obviously too late now but it might have helped if we either could or could not get the same result as you. Most of us here, me included, don't seem to have any problem with standard mp4 from mainstream cameras such as those you use. It would be useful to know if indeed we or anyone else experience such problems. But if we don't, it is equally important to you to know that the problem might then be more clearly in your own setup.

Re: VS 2018 cannot render 1080p or 4K out of Sony Alpha A650
Sorry for my outburst yesterdays guys. It was a very hard day. I finally got the video rendered at 1:00 am. I had to chop it to bits in tiny pieces, render them all, splice them together and render the whole project.
I know you guys asked for a sample clip and would like to give it to you, I just don't have the time. I live way out in the country and have only a 0.5Mbps upload capability. I would take me hours to upload a 4K sample. It is a 60-mile trip for me to drive to town where I can upload over high-speed internet.
To answer your questions about the problems I am having. I am not doing simple editing. I am doing volume control voice over, music track, transitions, FX. You can follow this link to a see a low-quality sample I uploaded last night. The video quality out of this Sony a6500 camera is amazing, but this was the very first time I had used it and the audio track was garbage due to wind on the lake, so I had to replace it and, well, with the problems I had VS, I need to completely replace the whole audio track again as it is worthless. But this video will give you some Idea of what I am talking about and doing. I had to chop this tiny video into 5 parts to get it to render and then splice them together to create the video.

My 2 cents..
This glove is too small and needs 2 hands . if one use it just to grab and unhook a fish quickly, it could be bigger and not "fingered" .
Jungle, you can collect my dividends for that idea.

Fully agree with Trevor. The wind is always a problem. It is nothing new in my jobs. The video is OK.

Not my glove or product. Just following the script I was given. Well, not completely. Some of it was just beyond cheesy ("Flex Seal" level stuff). I took a risk and used some artistic freedom with it and just said the key phrases that were obligatory. The customer emailed me after I wrote my last post on here and they just love the video and has given me an extra 50% bonus fee, so that is nice. Did not even ask me to replace the audio (which I think stinks).asik1 wrote:My 2 cents..

I agree the glove is to small for the model, but that guy is huge. It would be fine for people with normal sized hands.

Well, thanks. It is my first attempt at making a product promotion like this, and It was way out of my comfort zone, so I was not expecting too much.weaver wrote:The video is OK.
