New Pic-to-Painting version is online now

Post by josephlin »

Hello All,

To the user who still encountered the image loading issue on Pic-to-Painting program.

I'm glad to inform a new Pic-to-Painting version (v1.1) was updated on Welcome tab of PSP2019 now. Please uninstall existed Pic-to-Painting at first then go to download and install the new version. Here is the change of this version:

1. Increase the system compatibility support with the low-end machine. This change can get better support for image loading case.
2. Overall performance was enhanced.
3. Introduce new control method of "Paint Style".

PS: Please noted the minimum resolution support for Pic-to-Painting is 1680x1050. If your system resolution is lower than that then an unexpected UI problem may occur.

We hope this new version can help you to enjoy Pic-to-Painting plugin again. 8)

Sweet, this version is really impressive. After doing the initial calculation it renders subsequent styles a lot faster. And I like the blend option. Very nice. Thanks for the hard and diligent work you guys do. I'm not seeing new paint styles though. I have the same list as before. Am I missing something or do you just mean the styles have been updated? Or is the blend feature (a.k.a strength) the new style?

Given all of the issues I had read about PicToPainting I hadn't even bothered trying it before. But after this post I downloaded and installed it this morning and ran one picture of a car I'm getting rid of through it (approx. 4000x2000 pixels) using the retro pop filter. Worked well and fairly fast considering what it does. It took about 15 seconds to render the preview, and another 15 seconds to open the painted image in PSP's workspace. However, it didn't send it as a new layer as it says it will but rendered the result on the layer I had active when I invoked the plugin.

I managed to get the previous version working using the "fix" that a user published in this forum. I would have assumed that Corel would learn from this, but no.
Just made the change; doesn't work. The cursor is still turning after 10 minutes. I am not impressed at all!

I realize this doesn't take away the complaint, but the same fix has reported to work by iraisok.

@LeviFiction

To be clear, I had applied the TensorFlow fix to the previous version, 1.0, and that worked. The new version, 1.1.0, overwrote the folder. Since the new version didn't work, I replaced the new TensorFlow folder (renamed to Tensorflow_new_old just to be different from Tensorflow_old) and put in the downloaded Tensorflow folder. Still doesn't work, so I'm worse off than before.

Is there another solution?

Update.
I hadn't applied the Tensorflow fix to the 64 bit program part, only the 32bit program. When I did, it worked.

@josephline
You should get Corel to fix this problem.

In the other (later) thread about the new update to PictoPainting, @LeviFiction provided the opinion that he thought it was a CPU issue (in response to my guess that it might have something to do with Windows 10 on specific machines). So it doesn't seem to be widespread with the new version of PicToPainting, and perhaps is still system specific, albeit with more than just a few systems.
