Videostudio 2019 Service Pack Now Available

I just launched VS2019 and clicked on "check for updates". It says there is an update available and it's currently downloading in the background.

Following the update, I'm now running VS 2019 22.2.0.396. However, it's not clear what this update fixes as there is no readme file that I can find listing bug fixes. It almost seems like VS is a one developer effort and so there is no time to document any changes.

Glus, is there any reason why Dolby Digital Surround Sound has been removed from VS2019 Ultimate but is present in previous versions. If this is on purpose then I shall have to go back to VS2018 as this is a feature I use frequently. I wrote to Corel last week on this but still have not had a reply.

The ac3 dolby codec in 2019 is a topic I have ranted on, elsewhere, with Corel.

Simply put, Corel decided (yes, a deliberate decision) that the AC3 codec (dolby sound) would only be supported in 2019 if you ran VS on windows 8 or windows 10. your post is the 1st i have seen reporting that dolby doesn't work with 2019 under win 10. For me, running windows 7, that decision made my archive of video clips recorded with dolby sound (around 172Gb) as just a box of silent movies if used with 2019. I wasn't happy about that.

That Corel did this makes no sense for a windows based product, in that
- the dolby patents have all expired (the last one ran out in March 2017), so there is no licence fee payable to use the codec
- windows 7 is the equal largest, or 2nd largest (depends on which stats counter service you use), windows market world-wide, in Feb 2019. In comparison, vista has vanished from the stats, windows 8 is barely larger than Xp3 (around 5% each) whereas win 10 and win7 are both at about 38-40%
- the codec must be in the download, as the only way the installer can determine the OS in use is at install time.
I did suggest that Corel include the AC3 codec as a paid extra for win 7 users if it was of such desperate importance to them, but that got ignored too.

So, immediate and longer term, the only option when using clips with dolby sound is to use an older version of VS. Don't throw it away - different versions of VS can be installed on the same computer - but only one will run at a time. If you run win 7 and VS2019 is your first experience with Video Studio, and your archive is with dolby sound, then get a refund. The earlier versions of VS that do support dolby are not available now, unless you can find a disk version somewhere.

X9 and X10 which both support Dolby Digital 5.1 are still available on Amazon, e.g. https://www.amazon.ca/Corel-VSPRX9MLMBA ... way&sr=8-1, and perhaps other non-pirate sites.

I have all versions of VS since X4 installed and see no reason to uninstall any version since they seem to co-exist and disk space is cheap.

Not strictly true now, many users have conflict problems between VS2018 and VS2019, which whilst Corel are aware of the issues, not much appears to have been done to correct them.
There are different issues depending on your OS, Win 7/Win10. If you have VS2018 installed, then install VS2019, you need to carefully check VS2018 and look for any changes, you may find some items have disappeared

I have VSX9.5, X10.5, 2018, 2019 and Pinnacle 22 all Ultimate versions installed on my PC and they all work fine except VS2019 which is the only one that doesn't support Dolby Digital any more. In my opinion X10.5 is the most reliable even though it doesn't have the later features.

How can I find VS 2019 Service Packs? I check for updates but "There are no updates available at this time". When I download/install there is no service pack. HELP me.

Depending on when you bought it, you may already have the current version. Go to HELP, and then ABOUT - you should be on version 22.2.0.396

Imaref is correct that all new / recent purchases will include the service pack as part of the program,
therefor no additional updates will be required. At least that's my experience

Afaik that will be the same when reinstalling the program, the web installer will download the main program (Ultimate / Pro Folder) prior to installation.

To make sure I had the current up to date files I chose to download and re-installed the program as new after SP2 release.

Supposedly SP2 fixed problem with Lens Correction not having a Save Custom preset button. Now that I have installed SP3, I still don't see a way to name and save a custom preset. Every clip on the timeline has to have the intrinsic parameters set up from scratch -- and that's ridiculous.
