pop out photo I'm baffled

Post by jayson1945 »

Ok my head is spinning I've got to ask for help.
Trying to do a pop out effect by following this photoshop tutorial

https://www.photoshopessentials.com/pho ... up-effect/

I'm OK until step 8. I know it must be different using my PSP 2018 but try as I might I cant get any further. I drag out a rectangular selection using selection tool and can alter the perspective then scale but how to add a layer mask?
the new mask layer has hide and show selection greyed out and there I've been floundering for days!
What should I be doing? or better still is there a good tutorial using PSP 2018 I can follow to create this effect? My searches have not been very successful on this. :( :?

The PSP Out of bounds effect is very much like what you are after .

Check out these youtube videos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWekNPb1gvs

and this corel one has a written tutorial as well.

https://learn.corel.com/tutorials/creat ... nds-photo/
Now you may say that that is not the same as a pop up picture , but copy and paste the final image and then rotate it 90 degrees left and instead of the horse jumping out of the frame to the right , it appears to be coming out of the frame and popping upwards.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

After you make the selection in PSP click on Edit Selection in the Layer Palette tools or go to Selection-->Edit Selection, and you will see a red overlay appear in the selection area.
Make the perspective changes.
Then click on Edit Selection icon again. That will turn off the red overlay.
Now the mask options are available.

patara: that got me a stage further and progress by using Selection -> Edit Selection.....that's where I was stuck initially. Thanks.

hartpaul: the out of bounds tutorial makes it so easy....picking around both the videos I should be able to get going again. Thanks to all.
