Note that this is HDR effect, not merging 3 or more files.
I appreciate that in using this tool, three files are merged after splitting them from one file, but is there any reason why this should cause an EXIF data loss? And can this be fixed?
All I really require, at present, is the date taken info preserved for photo competition purposes.

There's nothing secure about EXIF data, so I'd have no qualms about just using an EXIF editor to put the correct date back. No idea why PSP loses it.
