VS working folder query

Post by Longshanks »

Hi

Still use VS X2. Know it’s ancient, but it works fine for me.(Retalliation in first)

Just tried to create DVD (from mpeg video file) but got warning that VS working folder/cache may not have enough room. Suggested cleaning, using different location for working folder etc. What’s odd is that the warning message says the working folder is on C drive (which is full), but when you go into preferences, it clearly shows working folder on D drive (second hard drive) which has oodles of space. Is this a common phenomenon with VS? Never had this problem before.

Thanks

There are in fact two places you have to change the working folder location. One is in Preferences > General -- and that is the one I assume you changed to D:\ drive. However, that one only affects work you have done in the Edit module.

But -- and it's a big but -- there is another Preferences in the Burning module. With the latter open, click on the first icon in the bottom left of screen. In the dialogue box which appears, the first item shows the (burning) working folder. Unless you have changed that, you will find that its default location is still the C:\ drive. So change that to D:\ or wherever else you want and have space, and you should be OK. A drive with at least 9 or 10 GB free space would probably be best in order to accommodate the processes involved in burning a disc; and probably a lot more if you are producing Blu-Ray discs instead of DVDs...

Thanks for clear and constructive response. I did investigate some of those icons (burning options etc), but didn’t get to the one you refer to. Works a treat now. Gracias y audios.
