VS2019 Crashing, Edits not saving, Unable to Render
I have used VS for the past few years with few problems, but I am extremely frustrated after upgrading my PC and purchasing VS 2019 earlier this month. After working on a video for two days, the program has crashed over a dozen times while completing random tasks (scrubbing on timeline, clicking FX, etc). Facial blurs that I added through motion tracking disappear after saving and reopening project. Finally, after adding a video clip to the end of my project, the program crashes every time I try to render the project or click on that clip or clips adjacent to it. I have lost this entire video since I cannot render it or even move it to Vegas Pro (which I am contemplating switching to).
I contacted Corel yesterday and have not yet received a response. I don't have high hopes for support offering a useful response and may just ask for a refund. I don't want to jump ship to Vegas or even Adobe, but I cannot continue with Corel if VS is highly unstable in Windows 10. Does anyone have any suggestions to help my problem or salvage my video? Thank you.

We are all waiting with baited breath for the release of SP2, which hopefully will be very soon, but to what extent SP2 goes to resolving all the currently known issues with VS2019 we will just have to wait and see. If I was in your position and you still have time available I would obtain a refund, then wait to see what the responses are to SP2 before considering purchasing again, it may be necessary to wait for SP3

Thank you for the heads-up on an upcoming patch. I might just ask about the refund and then try out other programs. I can't waste more days editing just to yield a product I cannot render. Thanks again.

I wasn't aware that SP1 had been released and in VS2019, I see no updates available. Is VS2019 22.1.0.326 SP1?RobertOZ wrote:We are all waiting with baited breath for the release of SP2

When VS2019 was first released it already included SP1

The 1 after 22 indicates there has been a SP1...

The fact that it is taking such a long time for the patch indicates there is a lot to corrected. As is, it should never have been released.

Re: VS2019 Crashing, Edits not saving, Unable to Render
I just upgraded from X10 to 2019 when I purchased a new computer. After half a dozen crashes during simple renders I installed X10 and was preparing to ask for my money back. I will download the service pack and see if it fixes the problem.

Re: VS2019 Crashing, Edits not saving, Unable to Render
I downloaded the Service Pack and I am still having a problem. The program crashed one third of the way through rendering a simply 3 minute Video that had worked perfectly on X10. I don't have time to spend on multiple reinstalls. Will likely go back to Version X10 for now and try to get my money back on the upgrade.

Re: VS2019 Crashing, Edits not saving, Unable to Render
The service pack update did not help me either, and Kaspersky thinks it found a Trojan in the mydvd_vsp.exe file. I'm still unable to pull a simple video file into the program without it immediately crashing. Will be contacting Corel for a refund and going to CyberDirector. I'm not sure I even trust VS 2018 to run on my Windows 10 PC.

No problem rendering or using the update yet. I hope it continues. Maybe Kaspersky is a spy?

Re: VS2019 Crashing, Edits not saving, Unable to Render
I am also having crashing issues with 2019, so far the quickest crash has been 45 seconds, and that was just playing the timeline. Today, however, when I started the programme it informed me of an update which took some time to install - even on my M.2 SATA drive, SP2? Full of anticipation I loaded the project I had been attempting to work on, I played the timeline. Two and a half minutes in it crashed, the again at just over three minutes in. I've had to set autosave to 1 minute intervals and save after I make the slightest change.
This really isn't good enough and I am debating whether to attempt for a refund

Re: VS2019 Crashing, Edits not saving, Unable to Render
Are the people who are having problems using Kaspersky for security? I had been using McAfee on my old computer and never had a problem with Video Studio on a i7-3500 with about 6mb memory. When I bought my new machine, the salesman convinced me to get Kaspersky. I did not get a virus warning on installing VS 2019 but I wonder if there is some incompatability with Kaspersky?

After installing the update, did you reboot your computer? I don't think it is necessary to do so, but it is something we need to rule out.
You have also not told us anything about your project: what format is the video in it? What are you wanting to produce: the same format or a different one? What editing have you done: in particular, what FX filters, if any, are involved? Have you used SmartProxy on the video? (That makes standard definition copies ["proxies"] of HD/4K video which will play and edit smoothly. When satisfied, the edits are then applied to the original video.)
And have you enabled hardware acceleration in Preferences? If so, could you try playing the project with hardware acceleration disabled?
If you decide to seek a refund, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to do so.
