CVSX9 2018Ult; text fades when viewing in project mode

Post by Carroll »

First, I have spent time searching for the answer on different locations, including the 550+ pages on here, the .PDF user guide and googling it, but, came up empty. I'm sure its out there, but, I just didn't word it right, most likely.

When I click "Project" or "Clip" mode, to preview the clip or video, the text I've inserted (not presets), which, is either white or yellow on a Royal Blue BG and on the scenes themselves, the text discolours as a grey/black wash washes unevenly, onto the text, but, you can still tell the colour. Also, text edges are no longer crisp or sharp either, like they are in edit mode - they are soft. I do not have "shadow" or "border" engaged either. Also the font sizes range from 25 to 17 in Trebuchet MS, Arial and Tahoma. Now, I have also opened some of my older Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 .vsp files and the text names are the same as now, except, the smallest size was 10 and italicized . They all stayed clear when I ran preview in both modes.

So, after all of the above, I am wondering if this is just VSX9's way of saving memory when it's previewing and will the video be clear and sharp, as it is in edit mode, when it's rendered, or, is there something else going on?
Sincerely
Carroll

Sorry, I didn't include it in the message as I had put it in the subject line, which, I have found, is the wrong ID. Its VSX9 Ultra. Copyrighted in 2016.

Hi Carroll

It may be a setting that has been used when creating the text
Although you say it is a text you created some settings may be used from a previous clip.
Check your settings
1 / Select the text on the preview screen
2 / View the options panel and select Border / Shadow Transparency
3 / Border tab -- should all be set to “0”
4 / Shadow Tab – left hand “A” should be selected – No Shadow

Well I don't think I can do that. I run it in preview mode and go to edit for a snapshot and the preview stops and the text clears up. Hit play again, and the text turns greyish again.

It must have to do with previewing, as all my text does the same thing when previewing in project or clip mode.

Its not something I really want to do right now, but, I guess I could render it now to see how the text I have so far, appears when I run as an mpg, then come back and complete the video, or, just keep going till its finished and render it then.

My best bet is to go ahead and finish it. I'm not getting much done trying and trying to figure out what is going on with the text, plus, I'm wasting the time of both of you, which, I really do appreciate.

Hi Carroll
Can you save the project as a copy, then using Windows Explorer to rename the file to use .txt as its extension
Now you can attach that file to the forum, we can have a better look at your text clips.

Okay, I have saved a copy and changed the ext to .txt. When I click to open it, all I get is source code. I've used 3 programs to open it. Will it open not open the same on the forum?

Yes, you've selected to apply a fade to the text (see image). Simply deselect it, and the fade will not be applied.

I was under the impression that the fade had to do with the text coming into view, pausing for however long its set for, then, it fades out of view. I deselected it on my PC and there wasn't any change, other than it didn't fade in, then out. The text still greyed out but as soon as I stopped the preview the text came back to clear colours as it does with all the text insertions.

Did you try it on the one that has the heading TSX-FTC....... with a list under it starting with First spike? The greying is noticeable on all text, especially noticeable, on the white text under the First Spike list.

Without a time code, I'm only guessing what you're referring to. With that said, the reason that the "heading TSX-FTC" in the following image is grey is because you selected grey for the text colour as shown.
