Hello Guys,
after capturing a lot of clips from a tape in VS9, it's quite confusing to have almost the same file names, difference only in numbering. If I rename the captured file in Explorer, VS asks me for relinking, but in the Library, the name remains the same. Any advise how to rename files so that it appears also in the library giving better overview what is what?
BTW, which one is bettter for making videos: Video Studio 9, or Media Studio Pro?? The latter seems to be more complicated for me, or it's just more options?
Renaming captured files

first thing to note is that the thumbnails in your library are not the film clips - they are simply pointers to them or sometimes even just bits of them.
If you rename your captured files before you import them to your library then the thumbnails in the library will show the rename, but if you are renaming the clips after import to the library you can rename the thumbnails independantly - first click on a thumbnail then click a second time (NOT a double click) the title of the thumbnail should now be in edit mode and you can label each thumbnail whatever you want, it does not HAVE to match the file name. click anywhere away from the thumbnail to set the new name.
I often rename the thumbnails for convenience but do not normally change the name of the actual captured file - no need to do that since working with the thumbnails only gives you all the information you need
