I am now using 2019 Ultimate. when I put a clip on the overlay track I cant move it. also a clip on the video track stays where it is dropped, does not go to the beginning of track
In 2018 all I have to do is clic hold and move left or right. I must be doing something wrong
So far I have found 2019 no where as responsive as 2018
Thanks for any help

Re: Overlay track problem
Hi Neil
No you are not doing anything wrong
Corel have introduced a new editing technique called “gap edit”
When dropping a clip to the top timeline they no longer auto move left
If you right click the clip in the library for Insert to Video track it should go far left.
If you right click a gap there is an option to Close Gap may help .
However there are some issues using Gap edit that Corel are aware of and working on a fix, hopefully soon.

Re: Overlay track problem
Thanks for that, makes me feel a bit less useless. What about moving the overlay track

Re: Overlay track problem
Hi Neil
Sorry I do not have a problem moving clips on the overlay tracks, The overlay tracks should not be affected by the new gap edit feature.
I have tried a few options but do not find any problems
What type of clips are you using?
If you use the Media Library video and image samples, do you have the same problem

Re: Overlay track problem
I just updated VS 2019 to 22.2.0.396. The new version let me drag and drop a clip between clips already in the video timeline, moving the clips after the inserted clip to the right, like in the old versions of VS. This is so much better than overlaying the existing clips by default! I can also move clips on the video timeline to a new position and not have them overlay existing clips. Thank you, Corel!

Re: Overlay track problem
You can open a gap as described before but, if you have items on overlay tracks they do not move with the video track gap-no ripple editing yet in this case.

Re: Overlay track problem
The Ripple Editing process has also been improved and does seem to work.pepegota wrote:You can open a gap as described before but, if you have items on overlay tracks they do not move with the video track gap-no ripple editing yet in this case.
Ripple Editing can be a little complex is probably a little strong, but can give odd results depending on the timelines content and what we are changing, but in the whole works well
There were many problems with the introduction of Gaps, I mean a lot, but most fixed with SP2.

Re: Overlay track problem
Yes, ripple editing is effective but, not in the case I mentioned above. It would be good if it did move everything together or better yet, give the user a choice.
