Filters Unlimilted & BKG Designer sf10 II

Post by AncientOfDays »

This is the second tutorial I've had this problem.
When I try to load the one file I need from BKG Designer sf10 II into Filters Unlimited I get "Invalid FFX format or version conflict".
Has any one got that or knows how to fix it?
It seem to be a popular plugin now a days. I'm beginning to see in a lot of tutorials.

I use PSP 2018 and have no problem with the Filter Factory filters, including the one you mention. I don't know if this will be helpful, but here is the Effects menu from my PSP 32 version, pointing to that filter:

Could it be your download of the filter? From where did you install the filter?

My wording is wrong. Instead of load I should be saying import.
When I try to import Dynamic Diffusion from BKG Designer sf10 II into Filters Unlimited 2.0 I get "invalid FFX format or version conflict".
Is there a way of getting filters into Filters Unlimited other than importing?

I have just managed to import that without any problems.
Have you applied the import registry fix to your Filters Unlimited.
FU2importfix.zip

I think this was the one I used. You are best to take precautions, set up a restore point and also do a registry save first. Then you can apply the fix.
It extracts to a file :
importfix.reg
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

AFAIK, you must import the filter(s) you want from the set. I first download, then decompress, the total filter group, then copy all or whichever of the specific filters you want to have available under Effects to the My Plugin folder. After that you should be able to import the filter(s). If you are doing that and are still unable to import the filter(s), the only thing that occurs to me is that your download of the BKG Designer sf10 II may have been faulty. BTW, when I view the individual filters in the set from the My Plugins folder, they appears as
Bkg Designer filters sf0 II.jpg
Good Luck!

I don't know what else to try.
I've used the FU2importfix.
I have added all the .dll's and installed them in System32 and SysWOW64.
I've downloaded BKG Designer sft10 II from five different web sites.
Each one gives me the "Invalid FFX format or version conflict" error.
I have even tried un/re-installing Filters Unlimited 2.0 and PSPX9.
Nothing seems to work.
If any one knows some thing else to try please help.

I'm sorry you are still having problems! Although you use PSP2019 while I use PSP 2018, that doesn't seem like a logical reason for the rejection of the filters. Just as a matter of curiosity, when you've expanded your download of the Bkg sf10 II, do you see the identical information for the set of files as that shown in my image above?

FU2 is now loading. I have loaded all of BKG Designer series.
Here is the crazy part I just downloaded toadies but it used a self extractor to get the files.
The thing is although they are .8bf files FU2 still loads them and the database shows them as .ffl/.ffx files.
Go figure. It's going to take some one a lot more expertise than me about plugin files to explain that one.

When you Import an 8bf file into Filters Unlimited it will convert the file to ffx file type so that they can be used within FU.
Not all 8bf files can be imported, only Filter Factory ones. If they are 56 kb in size, then they are usually Filter Factory Filters.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm currently having the exact same issue with getting my bkg designer filters to import. I'm using PSP 2020. I was just wondering if you could tell me how you finally got it to work?? Thank you!
