[X10] Exporting project?

Post by Shohreh »

Hello,

Is there a way to retrieve and export the start/end or start/duration of each picture I added to the video track, so I can try building the project with another NLE application and compare performance?

"File > Save as" offers no export format other than CVS X10/X9/X8, and for some reason, the list of pics only shows 00:00:00 and 00:00:03 :

Thank you.

I can't think of any easy way to do that

I think what I would do if i wanted to do that would be to export a video of your current timeline in any suitable format (mpg or mp4 etc.)

import that video into any timeline of your alternate NLE and then add the clips to another timeline so that they lined up with the video

when happy all is lined up delete the video leaving your new project only

Thanks for the idea. Ideally, I wanted to avoid having to re-add the ~100 pics into the timeline in that other NLE, but it looks like there's no way, even by using an AutoIT script :-/

As a work-around, it'd be possible to write an AutoIT script to copy each picture's name + duration… but there seems to be no menu/keyboard shortcut to access a picture's Properties from the timeline.

All your "clips" are stills so the do not have any relevant TimeCode, but if you select all of the on the time line and drag them to an empty liberary folder they will keep the order. Print screen that and you have EDL.
I did so few weeks ago .

Thanks for the tip, but 1) the list is too long to fit the screen, and 2) it'd be a lot easier to get a text file instead of a screenshot that I'd then have to run through an OCR (!).

Is there no way to export the list of items contained by a folder ("library?")?

W -e-l-l - - - Videostudio does have a list of all clips used , it is the .vsp file which is created when you save a project

MAKE A COPY OF THE .vsp file. change the extension from .vsp to .txt

it will now open in notepad. a great deal of the information you will now see is in gobbly gook and magic symbols but if you keep scrolling down you will one by one find the names and Windows path of the clips used . interspaced with yet more strange symbols . if you delete all the odd symbols you could have a list

unfortunately though the duration of each clip must be hidden in the gobbly gook because I have never seen it any where in plain language

If you are clever with computers you may be able to decipher it all but in all the years I have used Videostudio I have never found any one who could

Thanks.

Incidently, this is just what I did using a regex, but like you said, start/end or start/duration infos are unavailable since it's a binary file, which is why I was looking at the alternative of writing an AutoIT script.

Too bad CVS has no menu item or keyboard shortcut to right-click on each clip in the video track, so accessing its Properties dialog doesn't work :-/

Based on a cursory look, you'll find that the clips are not found in sequential order if you've moved the clips around on the timeline. As well you'll find multiple entries for each clip that has multiple filters applied.
