As far as I know Smart Proxy affects project playback and not clip playback
If you use your media players ( Film & TV etc.) to play the video does it play ok

Effects you have applied to an clip are only seen in project mode.

I put always thumbnails OFF when editing (see preferences: clip display mode: file name only). Otherwise editing is not smooth even with HD-clips.JPW wrote:... Is there something I'm doing wrong in VS that would cause this kind of issue?

Try applying FX Auto Sketch ( as that’s easy to id) to one of the media samples, I used SP-V10 and also any imageDavidk wrote:Effects you have applied to an clip are only seen in project mode.
If the effect does not show, play in clip mode.

I've never used anything but thumbnails on for clips, and never had an issue. With the nails on, it's only a small image but you know which file you are dealing with.
