My older plugins are still not working in Windows10

Post by AncientOfDays »

When I went to Windows 10 a lot of my older plugins don't work in PSPX9.
I tried to fix them with the FMpatcher and it worked a very few.
I keep getting the error "C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X9\Plugins\EN\My PSP Files\Plugins\simple\ct.8bf is not a FM plugin."
What can I do now?

I was on the horn with support.
They suggested because I owned PSPX9 I could get PSP 2019 at a reduced price. And $25 is not that bad.
Does anyone know if they have fixed the Windows 10 in the newest version?

It might be helpful if you could list the plug-ins you are having difficulty with. That way, other users with the same plug-ins could comment on whether they work with Win 10.

It would also be useful if you could confirm that you are trying to get the old -- and presumably 32 bit -- plug-ins to work in the 64 bit version of PSP. Or don't they work in the 32 bit version either?

Just about all old plugin filters should work in any 32 bit PSP version on Win 10.
Filter Factory filters require the Msvcrt10.dll file added to the system.
Old Photoshop filters require the plugin.dll added to the system.

The 2 dll files need to go in the SysWOW64 folder on a 64 bit system.
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
They do not require registering.

Many Filter Meister filters require patching with the FM Patcher.
Other filters may require installing.

Simple ct is a Filter Factory filter so will require the above dll file.
Most 56 kb sized filters are Filter Factory.
They can be imported into Filters Unlimited Plugin if available.

Yet strangely enough I do not have Msvcrt10.dll in a search of my Windows folder
I have in my SysWOW64
msvcrt.dll 762 KB
msvcrt20.dll 248 KB
msvcrt40.dll 60 KB

and the only plugin.dll is in
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Adobe\Shockwave 12\plugin.dll 363 KB
Yet I have many filters that work in the 32 bit version of PSP 2019

Perhaps you have no Filter Factory filters or no old Photoshop filters [the ones that require the plugin.dll]
You can read about these requirements at
https://thepluginsite.com/products/pico ... kework.htm

Filter Meister filters and other installed filters do not require those 2 dll files.

Thanks guys and gals.
The .dll's worked.
Didn't have them so I got them.
Every thing is fine now ... till next time.
BTW the plugin.dll has two versions, for either 32bit or 64bit systems.
Being as I'm running a 64bit system guess which one I chose?

Which filter factory filters are you talking about
I have Filters Unlimited 2.0 and it contains Andrew's Filters , ICNet filters, VM Natural VM Extravaganza , Alf's Power Toys , Mura's Seamless as just a few . Lots of filters with .ffx
So I would be interested in finding out which filters do require the plugin.dll and Msvcrt10.dll so I can test it out.

I'm not at my PC at present to check, but perhaps if the FF filters are imported into FU, they do not require the dll. If the FF fiilterrs are in your normal Plugin folder, then they do require the added dll.
A far as know the plugin.dll is requird for the old flters that came in PS. e.g. Texurizer , Adjustments etc.

Great. I thought that would be it.
In case you don't know, the SysWOW64 folder is only for 32 bit files. 64 bit files go in the Sytem32 folder.
I think those old PS filters that require plugin.dll, would need the 32 bit version.

I am new here, but I wanted to say Thank You! This is exactly what I have been looking for to fix my problems. I have purchased Numerous versions of PSP and many plugins and I thought that I had to purchase the different PSP versions to get the different plugins to work. Since I have not had a chance to work with any PSP in several years, I had forgotten all about the .dll files. Thanks again for your help!
