I am using VS Ultimate 2018 and actually just upgraded to it a couple months ago. It seems to be working fine albeit a little sluggish with 4k video (somewhat expected). However, when using Pan and Zoom, even if only slightly, for 4k video the result is awful. See the following examples. Untitled 01 is the original and Untitled 02 is only zooming in maybe 1%. Why they huge difference in quality? In Adobe Premiere, I can do the same thing and much more of the quality is maintained and what I would expect.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Pan and Zoom Quality - Very Poor?
Hi John
Yes I see the difference, cannot miss that its so bad
There was a problem using 2018 and Smart Proxy files, I had thought Corel fixed that with the latest patch
Please go to Help – Check for updates
If you did use Smart proxy – switch off that option then try a render
When you do Share try using the Same as First Clip option, top left, assuming the 4K video is the first on the timelines, although comparing the video’s properties looks like you did that.

Re: Pan and Zoom Quality - Very Poor?
Thanks Trevor! I checked for updates, but it was up to date. However, I disabled the Smart Proxy and boom. Pan and Zoom worked with the loss of quality I expected by zooming in. It looked very good. Thanks again. Do we know if the latest version of VideoStudio has this bug fixed? If so, I might go ahead and upgrade again even though I just did it recently.
I know this off-topic, but I just thought I would mention it in case there was another easy workaround / fix I wasn't aware of. Working with 4k video has been much improved since using SmartProxy. But SmartProxy doesn't appear to improve the most basic edits such as splicing a clip in half. Splicing a single 4k clip with SmartProxy on takes about 8 seconds for me. This really adds up on large projects. If I was asking VS to do some kind of complicating editing I would understand, but this seems like a lot for a simple splice. Is there any workaround to make a splice occur more quickly for 4k video? Thanks again.

Re: Pan and Zoom Quality - Very Poor?
And now that I'm going to go off-topic I guess I should really go.
I couldn't help but notice the PC you have for VS. From my perspective it was a very interesting approach to leverage an AMD processor with onboard video. Do you ever edit 4k video? If so, how is the editing experience? Is it laggy at all or is what you have enough to edit 4k pretty well? Thanks again.

Re: Pan and Zoom Quality - Very Poor?
My old pc was struggling a little that also board graphics not compatible to Windows 10, so when I updated I thought I would save a few pennies and try the same without a separate graphics card with the intention of adding one should I have a problem.
For my normal 1920 x 1080 x 50p I no longer need to use Smart Proxy, a recent purchase of a Sony camera uses 4K a little jerky without Smart Proxy, I can also edit HEVC H265 again with Smart Proxy, render times are ok, depends on the content of the timelines if it takes a while I can always get a cuppa. Difficult to compare as nobody has created a project as a benchmark.
Splicing clips for me is almost instant, I assume you mean using the Scissors, Alt+S or “Edit Split Clip” “right click Split clip”Longer clips may have a slight delay to refresh the clip, about a second.
The more cuts I made on a 45 minute clip affected the delay, maybe to 2 seconds but nothing like 8 seconds. I did not create Smart Proxy for the 45 min video would take to long, not sure if cutting is affected by Smart Proxy?
As for rendering I had thought Corel had fixed the Smart Proxy issue with the latest Service Pack
From Help About I see 21.4.0.165
