Cropping Videos to Full Screen

Post by infinitempg »

Not an expert with VideoStudio but think this should be more obvious. I have a video MP4 from a trial camera and I want to crop one of the videos to a small section of the video. When I crop the video I get a cropped image in the corner of the screen what I was cropping around.
Image
I can drag this image into the center of the screen.

When I save it this is what the video plays like, the cropped video is still the same area it was in the original and the same size. Never filled the window.

I have tried dragging this to an Overlay and if I fit to screen I get a blank video. I have tried saving the video then importing it and trying all kinds of stuff. In fact I have been fighting this for a couple hours with absolutely no luck. BUT I can pop out, visit https://online-video-cutter.com/, upload the video, crop it, and download it in about 45 seconds and I get a video that looks like the image below, EXACTLY what I wanted with about 4 mouse clicks.

Just don't understand why this is so difficult with a paid and rather expensive software. Why can I do this so quick an easy with a free online website but my fancy video software can't do this without jumping thru dozens of hoops.

How do you crop a video, fill the screen and save it? Should not be more than a couple clicks.

good point. you just need to use a different tool.
In FX tab select Cropping, there set your crop, uncheck fill color and the finalstage
right click on the first keyframe and paste it to all.

Thank asik1... after all my searching the forums and online your quick reply answered my need and worked. Not exactly obvious to do things that way. VS seems to want to use cropping as an effect where it starts full screen and sweeps to a cropped area. Didn't think that cropping and trimming a video was such an unusual request that you basically spoof some animation command to do that.

Many, many thanks!!!

The actions which occur during the cropped video duration are down to what you set in the crop window > using the key frames along the bottom you can set the size of the crop throughout the length of the sequence > if you want to zoom in and out you can > if you just want to zoom in you can > if you just want to zoom out you can > what happens throughout the duration of the cropped clip in entirely in your hands

Hello,
I used Joyoshare Media Cutter to crop videos to full screen or any other size I want. It's very easy to operate. I can easily move the white frame to zoom in or zoom out the video to eliminate the unwanted area or enter the accurate width*height value in the specific CropArea Size area. Besides, the preview window on the right will show you every small change during the cropping process.
