That's not necessarily because of the chevron. If you happen to double click on it or close to it, yes, the screen gets smaller. But that happens when you double click anywhere along the top line. Double clicking again anywhere along that line will make the program fill the screen again.

If you left click the chevron once, then nothing happens. So clicking once to open File -- which is what I imagine you do -- should not produce any movement of the screen, even if your hand inadvertently slips across to the chevron. If you right click it -- which I don't imagine you would be doing if you were wanting to open File -- then you get a menu which allows you to Restore, Minimize (to the taskbar), maximize it again, or close the program.

So if you are seeing the screen get smaller, but not down to the taskbar, I can only ask myself what you are doing by double clicking near or on File... (For me, double left clicking right on the very top of File also results in a reduced screen.)

Previewing of the current video frame: give me options to turn it off, or toggle it on/off with a keystroke or button, and have a manual "render this one frame" button for when it's off. Most of the time I just want to rearrange some rectangles (the clip positions) and I have to do a whole lot of them. I don't need to see what the frame is going to look like, so please don't waste 30 seconds rendering it, freezing up my CPU, and preventing me from continuing. This is really bad when you have multiple layers and titles on one frame, which is usually where I'm trying to rearrange things.
(Yes I know I can use SmartProxy but it makes my computer unusable for long periods of time while that is running, and I can't edit right after I finish recording.)

Snap end of the clip I'm dragging to the end of another clip, or to a chapter point.
For example my outro text ends at the end of my main clip. And my outro music ends at the same time as the outro clip, which are both different for each video so I can't just use a template.

Batch rendering, let me create a list of vsp files. I've edited 6 videos, now they'll each take 30 minutes to render. Now I have to sit at my computer for 3 hours (or keep coming back for 3 hours) in order to get them all rendered. I'd like to let it render while I'm asleep or away.

Lift, I raised "snap to end" to corel few years ago, but they don't understand why it's important...
But batch render is there for many years... look at File>Bach convert
Regarding your first issue, I'll admit I don't understand it. Is it your description?

As Asik not sure I understand your first paragraph, if you wish to render a section of the project you can set the Project Preview Range then render the selection? Maybe you do not want that?
You can also turn off a complete track, hiding the track will not render its content, upps, just tried that and VS 1019 messes up big time, 2018 ok
Asik can you test, add image to top track, add image to overlay 1 clear of top clip, hide overlay track and render. I will bug this one.
Further tests, now it seems to be working ok?

Snap to appears to work when dragging clips from right to left
It will also snap to the chapter/cue points again from the right to left.

And Batch Convert will render multiple vsp project files, I have to say that Batch Convert does need a makeover.

No problem render this
hide.jpg
**Trevor, No snap to clips tails, only to clips heads. way back I suggested that holding shift+E and draging will makes the tails "snapy" . I didn't make this vsp but I believe it was a nightmare as no snap to end

Hi
Crossfade type transition is available, but there are many more
Can you be more specific to what you need?

can we have a HOTKEY to mark the timeline with Cue Points or Chapter Points. it would be really cool if i could hit the M button and do that while the video is playing. The reason is i want to sync my video cuts with the beat of a song.

While the song is playing i could press the M button each time the beat drops thus knowing where to cut my clips... thanks

Ok I understand that the File Location is greyed out, it should show same as the File name, same for the Properties panel
Being greyed out usually means the option is not active or unavailable, clearly this is not the case.
I believe this is the same for all versions of VS

The encircled area is dimmed after selecting a location. It should be brighter for legibility. See below:
