Compatibility VSX9 vs VS Ultimate 2018

I just recently upgraded from VS X9 to Ultimate 2018.

When I try to open a VS X9 vsp file in Ultimate 2018, nothing happens. In the top righthand corner of the screen, I can see the file name of the vsp file that I opened. But, no clips get loaded into Ultimate 2018 ?

Is there a way to get this to work? Or, are VS X9 files unable to open in Ultimate 2018?

I do not know X9 so I cannot help you. I can just confirm that I imported 9 videos from the older X7 and I finished them without any problems in VS2018. I had yesterday a long discussion with Corel support in this issue. They also were the opinion that the VS2018 is backwards not compatible with X7. i cannot confirm this as all my 9 complex video projects were working in VS2018. ( lot of cuts, transitions special effects subtitles and dual language).

Bruce it's not a clear cut, it supose to work but do you have in your X9's nested vsp's? speed changes?

Do you still have X9 installed as any sample clips or files used with X9 will be required.
Like Asik i would suspect the timeline content and maybe a nested VSP.

backward compatibility from 2018 to X10 does not work, Corel are aware..
As a workround if we save from 2018 to X9, then that would now open using X10

2019 has the same issue in saving for X10.

Thank you for your hints. Luckily I do not have anything between VSX7 and VS2018, so I will not have this compatibility issue. My projects imported into VS2018 worked fine. I could finish all of them.....

Thanks everyone for your tips. I think that my first try was with a corrupted file. I've tried a few of my other VSX9 files and they transfer to vs2018 no problem.
