I’m using my VideoStudio X8 Ultimate (version 18.6.0.6) mostly for BluRay authoring and format conversion.
Just today I decided to redo my older BlueRay disk with different menus, etc. I’m using original M2T file, which worked before just fine.
Today however every time I’m trying to import it the VS crashes with the following error in Application Log:
Faulting application name: vstudio.exe, version: 18.4.0.27, time stamp: 0x5654094d

The property of the M2T file is like that:
Length: 00:26:09
Frame width: 1920
Frame height: 1080
Data rate: 30000kbps
Total bitrate: 30384kbps
Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Audio bit rate: 384kbps
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Audio sample rate: 48.000 kHz
Some other M2T files are working OK. Here is the example of working file:
Length: 00:20:08
Frame width: 1920
Frame height: 1080
Data rate: 30000kbps
Total bitrate: 35384kbps
Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Audio bit rate: 384kbps
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Audio sample rate: 48.000 kHz
I’m running Windows 10 Pro, fully patched version. My system is 6 core Intel Xeon, 64 GB RAM, SSD drive for OS, another SSD drive for applications, RAID 5 (4x2 TB drives) for video files. Any idea how to troubleshoot this?
Regards….

Re: VSX8 crashes when importing M2T file
I assume you are adding the M2T to the burner module.
What happens if you add a video to the main timelines, do you get a message to match project setting the video files properties.
Although I do not understand why some work and others don’t, seems to indicate a corrupt file?
Personally I would re-install the program using the Cleanup tool to uninstall.
First you could try a program reset by re-naming the 18.0 folder, you may wish to save the library
Some info here
http://lata.me.uk/corel/reset/reset.htm
If resetting does not help then a re-install
As for menus, you are aware that there are some additional menu templates from the Do More
Menu Pack and MenuPack 2, I think is for Bluray.

Re: VSX8 crashes when importing M2T file
Actually I’ve tried M2T file in both ways, open in editor and open in Blue-Ray authoring.
It crashes regardless. However I’ve created (using different Video editor) M2TS file which works OK.
I can use this file in editor and I can also import it to Blue-Ray authoring.
I haven’t tried resetting or reinstalling software yet. I may still do it, because I’ve run into different problem.
When trying to convert M2TS into MP4 using XAVC S MP4 HD (1920x1080, 60p, 20Mbps) format, I’ve run into weird error “format mismatch”.
I’d like to resolve this issue as well because Corel MP4 conversion is better than my other Video editor MP4 conversion.
I’ll try to run MP4 conversion again just to see if this was a fluke or repeated error.
I have currently 17 Blue-Ray templates in my authoring tool. I can’t remember if this is original number or if I’ve added some more.
If there are more templates available then I’ll appreciate some info how to get them.
Regards…

Re: VSX8 crashes when importing M2T file
I’ve just completed second run of MP4 conversion and it failed again at the end of the process with the following error:
“File format mismatch”
[16803:1:2]
The M2TS file is 43 minutes long.
When I’ve tried short sample (1 minute 34 seconds long) of the same video in the same M2TS format, and it was converted without the problems.
Any ideas what can cause this error?
Thanks…..

Re: VSX8 crashes when importing M2T file
Hi Wally
Seems very strange what is going on
I think a clean install is on the cards
You can backup the library if you wish to do that.
There are 6 maybe 8 bluray templates as installed.
The extra Bluray disc menus should be available via the Welcome – Do More, unfortunately I think they are missing from the 2018 program
The actual file is called
DoMore_Menu_02.exe
You may have that on your pc in the Corel Downloads folder, do a search, then save the file to a safe location. C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads
Oh you may have a file for each version of Video Studio?
And just in case backup this folder before uninstalling
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2018\Content\Menu Template
