Delete old version - save?
Hi,
is it "safe" to delete Paintshop Pro X9 (with windows programs and features) if i just want to keep 2019?
I have read the "pinned" uninstall-article, but i think this is to remove PSP super thoroughly/completely?...
Thank you, regards, Jürgen

Re: Delete old version - save?
Yes it is safe to use the Windows uninstall feature to remove previous versions of PSP, although you don't have to do so because all versions can remain installed without interfering with each other. Many people, including me, keep several versions installed,

Ok, thank you.
Since I do not have to support it, I will delete the old versions (useless) i think...

Re: Delete old version - save?
But PSPx9 is such a good version of PSP.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Re: Delete old version - save?
To operate with only one version of PSP on your system is like putting all your eggs in one basket . It is possible that a change / update to Windows 10 may cause new problems with PSP 2019 . Or something you do causes a malfunction in PSP 2019 and you are on a deadline and cannot fix it nor wait til someone here helps with a solution. That is when you may need the other version (PSP x9) to help you with your deadline.
In computerese always make sure you have a backup. Backup files, backup program and if possible a backup computer.

Re: Delete old version - save?
...all true
...all done (Backup, Installation files of old versions, two backup computer (PSP9, another X8)...)
My PSP 2019 -Workaround is Jasc PSP9, still active - I also use almost only the "old" tools that I have dragged into a custom toolbar in "edit" in PSP X9, now 2019
... and google NIK (also in PSP9 with Script-Button)...
btw - who says that PSP X9 is still working on a windows change when PSP 2019 stops working (ok, or PSP9...).
Let's hope for the best (and a look at the programs-SSD says enough space - so i wait with cleanup...) Now you scared me

Re: Delete old version - save?
Since you have PSPx9, you have perhaps the best of the "classic" Corel versions of PSP. Personally, I don't think PSP9 adds much if anything to PSP7. I also do not think PSP 2019 adds much to PSPx9. True, you can enlarge both text and icons, which is a comfort to old eyes. But the switch from moving the Crop box (PSPx9) to moving the image (PSP 2018) was a regression, IMO. So you should keep PSPx9 around.

Re: Delete old version - save?
Yes, PSPx9 was ok (and some minor things which i need better than Jasc PSP9 - my upgrade-path was PSP9 -> PSPx9
- and nearly without problems (after fiddling to bring back the old tools)).
I wanted to have PhotoMirage and the newer PerfectlyClear (...Ultimate Edition...) and "they" told on the website that PSP 2019 is much quicker (hehe) - and the upgrade offer was around 25,- EUR.
CropBox - you mean when you switch between portrait and landscape for the cropBox? -i did not yet recognize that (Oh my god - must check this later)...

CropBox rotates in PSPx9. In PSP 2018 and 2019, the image rotates while the CropBox remains fixed.juergen wrote:Yes, PSPx9 was ok (and some minor things which i need better than Jasc PSP9 - my upgrade-path was PSP9 -> PSPx9- and nearly without problems (after fiddling to bring back the old tools)).

Re: Delete old version - save?
Ah - ok (I had already tested it), it's still the same as earlier if i klick at the symbol for 90 degrees-turns of the crop-box, only if i click & drag around the crop-box i have to turn my head simultaneously
(keep-fit exercises?)
I use always first the tool to straight the photo if needed (alignment tool? don't know the english description), then later the crop tool if needed...
Strange, but i do not care (photo-editing).
