VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
I can't capture video using a Syntek STK1150 USB 2.0 capture device in VideoStudio X9. Skype, Roxio Media Import, Microsoft AMCAP v1.0, Microsoft Movie Maker and ArcSoft ShowBiz, as examples, all can.
I also have the predecessor Ulead 11 SE installed and it does the same thing.
Granted, I can use Roxio Media Import to capture a MPG file and drop it in a Video Studio time-line but, I'd like to know why VideoStudio X9 can not capture video like other software can.

Re: VideoStudo X9 can't capture from USB device
You don't capture from a USB device, just copy the contents of the USB to a folder on your computer, then import into VS as normal

Re: VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
The EasyCap device has been a problem in the past and we used to have a very long thread about it as a sticky at the start of this forum. But it moved on some time ago -- though you could do a search for it using "EasyCap" as your search target.
The fact is that analogue-to-digital USB capture devices are not quite as simple as RobertOZ suggested. They usually come with software of their own, and the idea is to use that software to capture. At one time, VideoStudio was in fact the software used with the EasyCap. IIRC it was a Special Edition (SE) of VS 10. But it was specially tweaked. By the sounds of it, your VS 11 SE was probably the software which came with your EasyCap. But that software came out around the time of Windows Vista, so is unlikely to work with current operating systems. And Corel apparently did not tweak any later versions of VS to work specifically with the EasyCap. So in that sense you are lucky to have other software which does work with it. The only thing I can think of would be to set your VS compatibility to work with Vista standard, though I wouldn't hold out much hope that this will work.
In other words, the bottom line is that Video Studio, both in older and more recent versions, is unlikely to work with the EasyCap. So do as you already have done and use Roxio for the capture then edit in VS...

Re: VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
Obrigado.
VideoStudio does work with a X10 VA12A USB 2.0 Capture device.
If you do a little Google'ing it seems that there are many versions of devices that use "EasyCap". That picture looks like what I have except there is no label "EasyCap" on the device. Research shows that package has used different chip-sets. The Syntek 1150 being just one of them.

Re: VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
Sorry not on my pc at the moment, but found this old post relating to easycap / Ezcap
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=40286&p=213951&hilit=Ezcap#p213951
I used the Arcsoft program provided with Ezcap to capture the video, found it as good if not better than VS, mind you it was a long time ago

Re: VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
I hate to muddy the water, but...
This time I installed my old VideoStudio X7 on my Dell Latitude E5430 using the same Syntek STK1150 with no sequelae.
So it begs the question why I get the errors in Post #1 on my ASUS desktop with Ulead VideoSudio SE 11 and Corel VideoStudio X9 but I have no problems on my Dell Latitude E5430 using Corel VideoStudio X7 using the same USB video capture device.

Re: VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
The error indicates another device controlling the easycap
Can you try plugging the sub last
Start video studio
Capture
Capture video
Now plug in sub
Otherwise make sure none of your other programs are running in the background

Re: VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
I've tried multiple variations on that theme that. Including rebooting and going straight into VSX9. It indicates that no capture device is present. Then it Plug 'n Plays then error.lata wrote:The error indicates another device controlling the easycap

I was testing for video.asik1 wrote:I hate to muddy the water, but...

EDIT:
ReTested: Yes, Video and Audio via VSX7 using the Syntek STK1150 adapter on the Dell Latitude.

Re: VideoStudio X9 can't capture from USB device
On my Latitude E5430 I did note the the USB Audio interface of the Syntek STK1150 produced a low volume. Unfortunately, this model Latitude does not have a Audio Line-In port unless it is in a Latitude "E" series Docking Station which I do not have ( at this time ). The Latitude E5430 does have BlueTooth v4.0 and I have an Aluratek ABC01F which is both a BlueTooth Receiver and Transmitter of Audio. After some tests it was determined that the Latitude can only send Audio to this device. It will not receive transmitted audio.
So I ran another test.
I have a Lenovo Dual-Core laptop which had been wiped of its Windows Vista and now has Windows 7/32 Ultimate and it has a Line-In/Microphone port.
I removed VSX7 from the Dell Latitude and installed it on the Lenovo with the Syntek STK1150.
I was able to capture both Video and Audio via VSX7 using the Syntek STK1150 adapter but the volume level was again noted to be low. So I connected the Audio source to the Line-In/Microphone port and noted a proper Audio level in conjunction with the Video being captured via VSX7.
So I could get the Syntek STK1150 to work with VideoStudio on two other platforms only the audio level from the USB device was too low. It is mitigated however using the Audio Line-In of a platform rather than using the USB device.
