I haven't used PSP in some time (last version used is PSPX5) but got an e-mail this morning about a 48 hour sale on the 2019 PSP Ultimate for $25 and wanted to get some feedback on whether current users are satisfied with this version.
Thanks in advance for any comments you would like to share,
Conal

Re: PSP Offer and program comments
Works fine for me, but there is an issue with the crop tool that is brought up in several different posts that you can find by using the search box of this forum. Corel changed the way the crop tool operates starting with PSP2018.

Thanks Joe, I took a look at a couple of threads on the crop tool and hopefully the fixes done will at least make it usable. I am assuming you can still use the selection tool to crop if the crop took is unworkable?

Re: PSP Offer and program comments
It gets to be a case of using the version of PSP that has functions that suit the user.
For cropping I go back and use PSPX9 ,
For screenshots I use PSPX7 as it has all the settings on the one dialog box.
For cropping a lot of images I go back to PSP X2
For using some of the newer features I have to use the newer versions.
My hope is that one day Corel will correct all the previous bugs / methods of working so that users can have the version they are most comfortable with using and still have the newest features without something else being broken.
They have already done a very little when they allow you to choose in Preferences - Palettes to use the classic or modern Materials Properties.
So how about being able to use the classic or modern crop tool, the classic or modern screenshot, the classic or modern eraser etc

Yes. In fact, I use the selection tool much more than the crop tool, and then copy the selection and paste it as a new image if I want to simulate the crop tool's button that crops to a new image. And of course I also have access to the Edit Selection mode so that I can resize, rotate, etc.,the selection as I wish I have all of those commands as individual buttons on a tool bar so that I don't have to drill through the Edit or Image menus to access them. That includes the Edit Selection mode which I have scripted to open Edit Selection and automatically select the Pick tool so that I don't have to manually select the Pick tool to do my selection editing. I assigned that script to an icon and added it also as a button to the toolbar so it acts just like a toggle - click once to bring up Edit Selection and the Pick tool, click the button again to return to the selection marquee without the ruby lith mask.ConalO wrote:Thanks Joe, I took a look at a couple of threads on the crop tool and hopefully the fixes done will at least make it usable. Re: PSP Offer and program comments
Thanks again Joe for confirming the selection tool still works well. I have at least a decent amount of working knowledge on the Edit selection tool but I appreciate the help comments ... still need to take a look around at this version to see what is new since the last version I owned and determine what my workflow will look like.JoeB wrote:Yes.
