Cutting/trimming scorefitter audio not allowed?

A student is reporting difficulty cutting and trimming a scorefitter audio clip included on a vsp audio track in VS 2018: won't cut, and won't trim shorter from either start or end. I can verify on test that a scorefitter audio clip will not cut, but I can move or trim it.

Inserting an audio file from another source - eg external music files - into the vsp and it cuts and trims in the expected fashion.

Results are contradictory: user cannot cut or trim, I cannot cut but can trim. What is normal for scorefitter?

I think it is, as this music is generated direct in VS from short loop segments and usually it fills the available gap on the soundtrack. There is a special musical algorythm, how to put together those single music segments, therefore you cannot cut it or modify in length. (The algorythm is like a composer, must know what kind of music, what is the total length, than it selects the loops and puts them together on the soundtrack). I use this feature only when my videosegments are finished and I need to fill a given gap on soundtrack. If the video should be modified (in length) I usually create/generate a new music segment.

Score fitter clips are similar if not the same as created using the Auto Music option
Here we can choose any length which is then looped
We cannot cut the clip, that would be unnecessary as it would just loop.
Trimming the ends by dragging is the only option, or within AutoMusic set the time duration
Trimming will not alter the play start position, only change the loop duration, as such really does not matter which end is trimmed.

I guess there may be some fundamental differences in using the library samples as to the Auto Music, never tested that as a comparison.
A quick look shows them to be the same with more control via Auto Music

If you want to cut and edit scorefiter look for it's wav file in your working directory. copy it with rename and use as a new file.
In general, scorefiter can only be trimed if "flaged" as automusic...
