PSP 19 Runtime Error

Post by TheMajjam »

Hello all,

When I bought PSP19 I didn't think I would run into a problem like this. Been using Corel products for as long as I can remember. Here's a snap of what error I'm getting.

Image

Right now I have PSP19 installed on my partitioned SSD drive, which is also shared by my Windows 10 Pro OS. PSP19 is the only program currently in that partition with about 292 GB of space to spare. This problem is so frequent for me that in about an hour of usage for .PSP files of about 5MB or so, I will get that error about five or six times. My program always crashes after getting it.

I don't have much else on my computer and the installation is fairly new. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you explain the circumstances ?
When saving files ?
When using a particular tool ?
When using layers ?
When using plugins ?
When geotagging ?
When running scripts ?
...

Try a reset with shift key down...

Sounds like a runtime Error with the Microsoft C==
Search fo this gives :
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=56123&p=303605&hil ... or#p303605

and anothr case here
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=49909&p=267424&hil ... or#p267424

If neither of these work for you do an advanced search on that error in this forum (top right in the blue section) and you may find some other suggestions.

Thus far it only seems to happens at random times when I'm trying to undo an action. It doesn't matter what tool I'm using at the time, but I know I'm screwed when I hit undo, wait a bit, and then hit it again and nothing happens. Buttons are still clickable, but I can't edit. When I close that particular piece I'm working on, the error pops up.

When working on an image test, could you open the History (F3) and see if Undo steps are recorded ?
If not, could you Undo those steps inside the History ?

Is Undo enabled in Preferences ?
And in Preferences/Display and Caching, is the scratch disk enabled ?

Does this happen when undoing a selection (Ctrl+D or Ctrl+Z) ?

This may or may not help- I had same problem with another program only to find I didn't have the Direct X version necessary on my computer. This article tells you how to downlaod it and check what you have on your computer.
https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-downloa ... tx-2624489

However these errors are mostly in the program code and Microsoft recommends uninstalling and reinstalling program- use clean install tool here or free Revo uninstaller to remove all registry entries and other files-

Jean. It happens ONLY when I try undoing a selection. I have uninstalled it around three times and still get this error. I also made sure visual C is up to date, but you are correct with the undo selection.

Jean. It happens ONLY when I try undoing a selection
So many questions:
A.) When you Undo are you using
1. Undo Arrow icon up near the printer,
2. Alt Backspace
3. Control Z
4. History (F3) and clicking back one step (clicking the little Undo Redo eye icon)?

B.) Are you working with
1. a single layer
2. one of many layers?

C.) How was the selection made:
1. Selection tool
2. Freehand Selection
3. Magic Wand
4. Smart Selection Brush
5. Auto Selection.
Do any of these alternatives matter or make a difference?

In testing I would load an image - a single layer make a selection with the selection tool , then undo /redo just that a number of times using the undo arrows to see if the problem occurs - ie start with the simplest setting.

Do you have another computer that you can install the current package on to see if the problem persists with different computers or just one - if it occurs with different computers it could be a corrut installation package.

You say that you have uninstalled (and I presume reinstalled around three times). Did you reinstall with the default recommended settings ?
Did you download a fresh installation package.

If it were a common problem then many people would be joining in to this thread with the same problem.

I know the error is going to occur when I try to hit the undo arrow and it doesn't work. It's as if the functions freeze. Nothing is recorded and I can't do anything else, but the program allows to me [x] out of the imagine. When I do that, the error pops up and the program crashes.

A1, B1&2, C3.

Don't have another computer in the home.

It happening is pretty random. Sometimes it's quick, other times I've been working for a few hours. I always install the default recommended settings. I've also tried installing just 32bit and 64bit. I've also tried installing on both SSD and regular storage. Not saying this issue is common, but a google search reveals that it has happened before. I just can't find any solutions. This just seemed like the most practical place to find an answer.

What I'm trying to obtain from you are the precise steps... But no chance... You are not precise enough...
I'm a long time Beta tester and very precise steps are needed for others who want to reproduce the defect, and - the most important - for Corel to fix it.

Let your History window open on screen (don't work in Tabbed mode).
Observe the steps recorded in the History as you do them.
When you will draw a selection, you will see this action in the History.
Don't click on the undo arrow but go to Selections / Select none
Is the Select none recorded in History ?
Is undoing the step in History possible ?

You may also record a video and post it somewhere we could load it.
