Where did it go?

Post by pepegota »

Look at the two attached screens. One from 2018 and the other from 2019. What happened to "split screen" and "split audio? I found split audio under
"open options panel" but, no split screen. Where are they hiding it? This is not progress!
See comparison files at: https://app.sugarsync.com/wf/D1814182_040_877085820
Using the double click editor to do it is a onerous task.
I see it now. They made it so a clip on the main the main track does not snap all the way to the left. You can move it on the main track
and it will stay put. You can cut off the clip from the left as desired. I wonder what other goodies have been changed?

This is not progress. Before, right click and select split screen after placing the cursor. Now, you can move in from the left side but, only after creating a space-what on earth is going on. Tell me how to split the screen-it should be obvious.

Do you mean split SCREEN +++ or do you really mean split SCENE

two very different functions

+++++

I THINK you mean split by SCENE , in which case double click on the clip in the timeline and the options panel will open allowing you to select 'split by scene'

It so obvious why can you see it. How do split a screen-forget that by scene junk. It just is not there!!!!!
There is so many things wrong with this software-unusable. Where did the right click/split screen option disappear too. I got it now. You can move the left or right ends of the clip to where you want and fill in the space. However, the placement problem still exists.

I got that worked out. I can split the screen (clip) by moving the end handles and closing the gap.

The missing entries "Split Clip" and "Split Audio" are a known issue. We're sorry for this inconvenience, and we're working to fix the problem as soon as possible.

Keyboard
“Shift S” to split clip
A tool tip on the scissors would be useful

It would be nice if a list of basic changes was created. We have two so far
1. Split clip: the scissors icon or S
2. Storyboard clip position switch: move clip to new position and right click space to select remove gap. I h,ope they fix this one.
Better yet, see pages 237-239 of the manual-it's all there.

There is no change with this function; it works exactly the same as in Vs2018

As 2019 lacked the old right click split screen option, I looked for one. I did not know about shortcut S because I never had to use it with 2018. I did not know it was in 2018. Others may be have been just as ignorant as I was about the shortcut. Now, it becomes useable.

The Keyboard shortcut keys are listed in the user guide - as Timeline Shortcuts, a long list

To be honest i never used the Shift + S, so wasn't really aware as i have always used the scissors, they seem easy accessible.

There is in fact no need to use the Shift key, although I agree it does work but the user guide, and I have checked back as far as X9 although I might have an older version somewhere I can check does just say to use the 'S' key and I have just confirmed that the plain S does work very well

so it is not a secret pepegota it has been in the user guides for a very long time

Also pepegota you are still referring to split SCREEN , that is not what you mean and not what you want to do, it is what confused me originally

do you know the difference between split SCENE and split SCREEN two very different functions , perhaps if you used the correct names you might get more useful help , you want split scene (or more correctly split clip since split scene is also another different process )

You said that you got a refund for VS2019 so how is it now usable to you? Didn't you uninstall your refunded copy?
pepegota wrote:Why do we keep secrets?
My word, I've used this "secret" for a long time without reading the manual. Sometimes it's useful to look at the UI and investigate what the icons do rather than simply declaring the new version unusable.
pepegota wrote:Others may be have been just as ignorant as I was about the shortcut.
You can't simply admit that the issue was with your adopting a new version without any preparation or willingness to read the manual.
