So I shot a video all with my Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone. It is really good quality video. Super sharp video. Here is a screenshot of the format.
If I use the "Same as First Clip" or "Same as Project" setting to render, which uses the same setting as the original file from the S6, it renders fine. But if I try to render it to a standard VS format like the one below:
The video ends up all garbled like this:
I tried rendering the file to VS's AVC 1080p setting and it did render, but the resulting video was all grainy, like it came from a cheap poor quality camera.
Any ideas why VS is doing this?
VS2018 cannot render clips from Galaxy S6 into MP4?

Re: VS2018 cannot render clips from Galaxy S6 into MP4?
The problem is that VS has difficult processing video with an unusual frame rate. In your case, your video shows a frame rate of 30.005 frames per second. The standard frame rate around that level is 30, or more precisely 29.97 fps. So choosing a format or settings which conform to standard settings but which differ from your phone video settings, causes VS to screw up. It's good that using Same As produces a good result for you -- some other users aren't that lucky. But if you really want to edit your original video and produce another format or with other settings, then our usual advice is to use a video converter program -- using similar settings to your original but a standard frame rate -- and then put the new video into VS.

Thanks for the reply Ken. This frame rate issue seems to be a recurring problem with VS for many years now. Are the VS programmers not aware of this? Do they ever plan to address this issue?Ken Berry wrote:The problem is that VS has a difficult processing video with an unusual frame rate.
