Moving to 32 bit and previously istalled 2019 ult

Post by Ken Veal »

Have moved to win 10 from 7.Had upgraded to PSPro 2019 ult 32 bit via an upgrade previously .How do I change the present 64 bit version to 32 bit as my scanner is not recognised using 64 bit. Cant find a 32 bit option anywhere .Also I think I do not have the ultimate version now

You are offered the option of 32-bit, 64-bit or both (recommended) during installation. If you did not choose both you will need to uninstall then reinstall and select both.

There is no difference between PSP 2019 and PSP 2019 Ultimate. It is the same program. Ultimate refers to the extras that come with the purchase. You should have been given separate download links for the extras in your email from Corel.

Just to be clear, have you gone to File>Import>Twain Source to first look for and select a default scanner?

Apart from doing what JoeB suggested, have you installed any CanoScan software on your Windows 10? I ask because I have a positively ancient Canon LIDE 25 (bought in the 1990s) which works just fine in TWAIN capture under Windows 10 and is seen and recognized as a TWAIN source by PSP 32 bit. But I also installed CanoScan Toolbox 4.9 which provides the necessary driver for the scanner to be recognized. I suspect that Toolbox version is also quite old, and you might need to do a search on the Canon website to find a version which will work with your model.

You should also check File > Import > From Scanner or Camera as that also works. The GUI it makes available to you is more simplistic than the TWAIN interface, but it still produces a good scan.

(Footnote for those possibly worried that I am working with ancient equipment: I also have a far more modern scanner which comes with my Brother colour laser multifunction centre. It also presents a 32 bit TWAIN interface in PSP and gives me access to much higher scan resolutions than the old Canon. Mind you, for a quick basic scan the Canon is a good and quick alternative...)

Unfortunately, it is so that (most of SOHO) scanner / printer manufacturers provide no more TWAIN drivers (for 64 bit).
You can for nearly every scanner use WIA on windows: https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/window ... -startpage
In PSP like Ken wrote with File > Import > From Scanner or Camera, even at 64 Bit.

Alternatively / maybe: https://www.hamrick.com/ Vuescan (chargeable)
