Put date stamp on images

Post by Stumann »

IS there anyway of automatically putting the date on the image so it prints in a corner of the image? I know I could add text to the image during editing, but if there was a way of automatically extracting that info from the EXIF data and printing it on the image, that would be so much easier. I know a lot of you are wondering why, it would be useful in the insurance and/or investigation industry.

The Add Info command will do what you want I think. It's under the File menu.

Thanks for that Levifiction. Something new I have learned.
Tried the Add Info but had problems in adding a drop shadow- did not seem to work.
Even using a layer style. Only way was through Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. Hartpaul, be sure you check the box for drop shadow. It works for me.

OK Have it working . There is a difference between the drop shadow used here and that of Effects > 3D effects > Drop Shadow and Double clicking the layer thumb and using the Layer style > Drop Shadow.
IN Add Info and Layer Style they both have a slider called size while the Effect Drop Shadow says Blur and they both all do the same effect increase the sixe of the amount of blur in the drop shadow.
Just a bit of inconsistency in the naming. In the Add Info the shadow effect was very small so I attempted to increase its size so blurring and making the shadow invisible. I was expecting a bit more difference in the placement of the fop shadow , but it sticks pretty close to the chosen atribute eg Original Date. With the Effects Drop Shadow you can move the shadow right away from the lettering.
Another learning experience.
