Re: VS2018 experiences
The titler in the VS2018 has some bug when the video resolution is set to SD (720x576). While manually i can adjust the position of the title, the preset buttons create a crash. The title dissapears from the screen and the VS2018 crashes completely. I can close the VS only with task manager.
When I do not use the preset buttons everything is OK. Corel is informed, in HD resolution the preset buttons work fine.
The second interesting issue is that the titler almost never starts on the first click on the screen. The first click creates the textbox on the screen but the letters in the box do not appear. After the next click on the screen the box dissapears and the 3rd click on the screen opens a box with a blinking line and accepts the text from the keyboard. Interesting and much slower as the same function in VS X7.

Re: VS2018 experiences
Weaver, you are correct. I just install VS2018 and indeed in SD the titler will crash

Re: VS2018 experiences
Please report this also to Corel, because they are still investigating in my computer for the reasons of the crash and they do not believe me ( I tested this on W7 and W8.1 OS) that the positioning buttons in case of SD resolution project (720x576) create a crash of VS2018. ( maybe also in older versions as well, but I never tested, because I did not edit in the last 10 years any SD videos.).
I am not able to assist Corel for the next 10 days, maybe they will need somebody else to help.
Thanks
Eugen

Re: VS2018 experiences
Hi everybody!
Good news. Together with Corel support we found the reason.
With the right mouse button select on the desktop VS icon the properties. Open it and select Compatibility. Here check the run in compatibility mode and in the window below select you operation system. In my case the default one was Vista
It fixes the problem with the title positioner in SD and HD.
Thank you Corel

Re: VS2018 experiences
Something new in VS2018.
Today I started the new project with some dashcam videos in AVI format. Interestingly when I pulled them to library board, no picture appeared there.
Afterwards I selected some MTS videos, also no picture in the library board. On my old projects the pictures are there. Everything else works, ie the VS creates the proxies, when I select any video I can see it on the preview screen, and when I place them on timeline they work normally.
Is this problem familiar to you?
I will contact Corel as well.

Re: VS2018 experiences
No that is definitely not right! Have you tried restarting VS or restarting it after rebooting the computer? Or doing a reset of VS by renaming the 22.0 folder in C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)?

Thanks Ken
Except the reset of the VS everything else has been done. I do not want to reset the VS completely as there are few open projects in the background what for different reasons I cannot finish yet.
I will try to delete the library and start with the new one ( without the avi files). In my other projects everything works correctly.
Maybe Corel will also have some idea.

Re: VS2018 experiences
After two hours of brake ( the PC was OFF) i tried to continue in editing. Now it was better, but after the screen layout change (dual screen) i lost again the thumbnails.
Then I tried to remove some older projects ( I had 10-12 projects, some of them were not finished yet ( waiting for some clips), the finished ones I removed completely. After that the thumbnails came back. It looks like I have somewhere a memory space problem. I do not know I have 16 GB and over 10 TB connected to the computer.
Now it looks like that it works but I have no idea what is going on. There is no error message, no freezes, just the graphic memory seems to be overloaded. I do not know is there some setup for that? In the very early times there was some option to allocate enough memory for VS, but I cannot remember in the last 10 years to do some settings in this question.

Re: VS2018 experiences
I had to reset my VS2018 to fix this problem. Of course the reset deleted all my settings, favorites, and libraries so the unfinished projects are heavily influenced with the reset offered by Corel. The old way of reset ( rename a config folder and restart the VS2018 is much better as after the reset I can import the settings from the old config folder. I think somebody should tell this to Corel engineers....
The bug list of VS2018 is "nicely" growing.
The fade-out button for the audio tracks does not work. ( it happened also sometimes on VSX7 as well, but on the VS2018 it is a standard. Just the manual fade-out works.
The T3D function crashes the VS2018.
The accuracy of the cursors when trimming the clips and the audio tracks is inaccurate by 2-3 frames.

Re: VS2018 experiences
my 2 cents E.T.
* Why you didn't save a copy of your 21 folder on other partition so you could still have it for review?
** Here no issues with audio fades
*** on my crazy VS2018 I do not have thumbnails only in IP library.

Re: VS2018 experiences
I was on-line with Corel support and had to follow their steps. I was not aware what consequences those will have. I see now.
I have a new issue as well.
When I want to set the positions of my clips on secondary tracks the fade-in/out buttons and the cursors just flash on but do not stay there, so I cannot fade-in /out the tracks neither to let the slide in from some direction.
The area where I copied in yellow frames the buttons are empty!!!
In the VS X7 there was also the option to position the selected tracks into 9 fixed positions
Upper line: left, middle, right
Middle line: left,midddle, right
Bottom line: left, middle, right
All these function are not in my VS2018.
Can aou please check in your system?
It is crazy I closed the VS2018 and reopened now all hose functions/buttons are there.
This already a nightmare, I am hesitating to go back to VS X7 and ask for the refund.

Audio fade-in/out:
In my case these two buttons did not change anything on my audiotracks:
Interesting it is again like a lottery, after a restart they did the fade-out changes. In the morning I had to adjust all my audio tracks manually. We restarted several times the VS without any effect.

Re: VS2018 experiences
ET, I don't recall how was it in X7, but since X9 you have this for positioning, by right click on the preview window or by "In the Options panel, click Alignment Options on the Effect tab," as writen in the pdf

Re: VS2018 experiences
Hi
In VS X7 it was very similar and also on VS2018 it is the same when this option pops up in the option board. The problem is that is not always the case. Sometimes it is there, sometimes not. Today afternoon it was missing, then I restarted the VS2018 it became available. This is exactly the problem.
I do not know yet what causes this instability, and what influences the VS2018 when I open the program.
