When I edit a photo and select the text tool and start typing I experience a problem, no text appears on the screen until I select the "apply changes tick".
Sometimes it works ok, sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes only the 2nd part of the text appears before I apply changes. This has only started happening since I upgraded to PSP 2019 Ultimate. The same bug appears in the 64 bit & 32 bit version. I have the latest edition.
I am an experienced user and I have checked every setting in the programme. For instance that I am on the top layer & the layer is visible & the materials palette has colour in the foreground & background. The text tool creates a normal vector layer. Everything appears to be set right, but it does not work. It makes it very difficult to add text to an image.
Have you tried resetting the tool? Go into Presets, located to the left of "apply changes", and click on the arrow icon to reset to default to see if that helps.
Thank you Kathy for taking the time to advise on this issue. My text preset is set on default & always has been since I installed PSP Ultimate 2019. I now have a weird thing happening with the text tool. I select the text tool & then left click onto the canvas and it pastes the last thing copied into the clipboard & continues to do this every time I click onto the canvas

I noticed in the past that as I entered text portions of letters would be obscured until I accepted the text. A few days ago while working on a card I had exactly the same experience as the OP, I could see none of the text until I was finished. Having seen the posting I didn't worry too much about it and carried on. After reading the latest exchange I went back to testing. I created a couple of new files of different size. Text entry on these files was normal, full display, no delay. I then reopened the earlier project, a pspimage file, and tried entering more text there; same problem, could't see what I was entering. This file had five layers, background was gradient fill, nothing special. After some testing I closed this file and went back to the ones I had created. They still worked o.k. So then I reset the text operation - continued to work correctly in the new files. Then re-opened the old file that had not been working, and now the text entry was normal.
So, thanks Kathy, for the suggestion. But what is going on that text was o.k. in some files and not others? And based on the fact that I reset the text in one file (which had been working) and it fixed the other shows the tool is universal (as expected) and not different for each file. Makes no sense to me.
Thank you form trying to help with this bug. I have also had exactly this problem. Seems to be a bug when I use text on a pspimage. Again this morning, I have a weird thing happening with the text tool. I select the text tool & then left click onto the canvas and type the text. Nothing appears. I the click on apply changes and the text appears. I then left click the canvas and it pastes the same text & continues to do this every time I click onto the canvas
Looking at suggestions & other posted topics it appears that the "Remember Text" button was permanently selected. A problem with "remember text" appeared in another posted topic. I tried to enter text as shown in that post topic.
Text can be entered via a text box and associated with that was a small tick box for Remember Text.
You can bring the text box up by holding the Shift key down when you click the location to start typing text on your document. This works and in using it seems to have stopped the toolbar "Remember Text" button from sticking. This stopped the remember text button from sticking, but I still have a problem with the first few characters of text not appearing, until I apply changes.

I don't understand what you mean by "is set on default" Did you actually click on the reset icon as shown in the attached? That solved the problem for me.
I upgraded from a previous version of PSP. I never had this problem in the previous version. The very first time I used PSP 2019 I had this text tool problem. I have also previously done the "set on default" as shown above and I have just tried it again. Still have the problem.
One thing that is not mentioned in this thread is resetting PSP. If you have not yet tried that first, save your workspace. Then close PSP and then hold the shift key while restarting PSP. You will be asked if you want to reset. Once it starts you can reload the workspace; do not use a workspace from an earlier version of PSP.

Mark thanks for commenting. I have previously reset my workspace, completely uninstalled the programme, deleted all my previous PSP programme files, deleted all folders created for PSP, cleared my temp folder & cleared my registry of Corel files, turned my laptop off and on again then reinstalled PSP 2019 selecting not to use my previous settings. The first time I re-run the programme I have the same fault, with everything set to default user.
Just tried what you suggested and it appears to be working ok!!! I will reserve judgement if you don't mind as I have previously thought it was fixed and the bug reappeared. I will come back on this thread when I am certain it is working OK. Again thanks for your help
Had a ticket out for a while with Corel Customer Support for this text tool bug. Yesterday they emailed me to download a PSP "clean up tool", which completely removed all traces of PSP from my laptop. They also gave me a link to download and install another (latest) copy of PSP Ultimate 2019. This seems to have fixed the text tool bug. I will monitor this for a while and confirm if this works.
Just as an update. This seems to have worked. I assume I either had a corrupt version of PSP 2019 or there was an old PSP file on my laptop from a previous version, that affected the text tool performance. Thanks for all the help with this forum query

I have the same problems. Thanks for all the help!
