Pan and Zoom editing on photo's VS!8

Post by brucefl »

Hi,
I really have not had a chance since getting VS18 so it is a change on some things.
I have been trying to work with the pan & zoom and it seems quite different that previous versions.
I can seem to work out some of it, but it was easier when you just had the 2 or 3 plus signs.
It seems they have split a lined box up for each point which is half on one side and half on the other (or so it seems)
One box the lines were so far to the right I could not see that edge (of the lines), a lot of hit and miss rather than just
sliding the cross hairs to where you wanted them? Maybe it is just me, but when you are working with a lot of photographs it seems to slow
me down lol
Though it just crashed so I will work on it more the 1st of the week.
Forecasting at least 2 feet of snow maybe more

I'm guessing your talking about the pan and zoom editor in VS2018 bruce - can you confirm which version you are actually using

see image - I think this is what you are talking about - the "Box" on the left is the complete image - the "Box" on the right is the final result

adjusting the yellow dotted outline on the left box allows you to zoom to the section you want to appear - do this by moving the inner yellow dots - the outer yellow dots allow rotation of the selection - view result in right box

move the selection box around the screen by selecting the centre cross with the mouse cursor and sliding it to where ever you want it

to pan the selection - first set it up with the left keyframe (in the timeline under the boxes) selected [red] --- then move the sliding cursor to the right until the right end keyframe turns red then move the selection box to where you want the pan to end

clever panning can be achieved by adding additional key frames along the pan editor timeline and moving the selection box to different locations at each keyframe

if you get a lot of snow that shuts you in then at least you can spend the time editing

Yes it is VS18. I guess it takes a little more to get use to this one :)
Thanks for the comments, I am finding my way a little better through it.
Seemed a lot easier before, but that is upgrades and technology
