I had in the past some issues with the soundtrack, but recently I run again into the same problems.
I am adding a new narration sound track in wav format 44.1 kHz, 16bit to the original video sometimes with background music sometimes clean original sound.
As usually the soundfile for narration is too low so I need to boost it. ( I do not know why, the ZOOM recoder delivers at 0 dB level lower sound volume as most videocameras.)
In the past (before VS X7) the normalization filter always adjusted the sound level. On the VS X7 it does not work very well. At some sound sequences the normalisation introduces heavy distortion. What is even more interesting, when I cut the clean normalized sound track - to shift it into the correct position, the distortion even rises on the shifted sound clip.
So removed the normalization from this soundtrack and changed it to the level adjustment ( also a VS filter). This filter works much better.
Does anyone have similar problems with the normalization filter?
The normalization in audacity and also on Magix sound editor works fine ( on the same computer, in the VS fails. Last time failed on MP3 tracks, today on WAV.

Re: Audio problems on VS X7
You better go with audacity, vs's normalization is useless.
