Hi there,
I have digitalized some old pictures from the negatives of an old camera.
Is there (PSP X9) a possibility to clean hundreds of dusts?
To use the clone funktion is in this case nearly impossible...
Thank you for hints!

Re: How to clean old photos?
I assume from your post that by "dusts" you mean little speckles throughout the images. If that is the case, you can go to Adjust>Add/Remove Noise and experiment with some of the filters available there.

Re: How to clean old photos?
Hi,
For dots, use the Makeover Tool set to Blemish fixer
For scratches, use the Scratch Remover tool
For dust, under Add/Remove Noise, use the Despeckle tool or the Salt and Pepper Filter (JoeB's solution)
The photo prints must be scanned at 600 DPI first. If not, information will be lost or cleaning will destroy content. Upscaling after the scan is useless.
Could you send here a sample (cropped) of the problem ?

Hi,
in this case, Salt and Pepper Filter works very fine! Additional with Digital Noise Removement and Sharpen More the pictures look like from the year 2018 and not from 1979...
I did not got the idea to look in Add/Remove Noise!
The Makeover Tool and the Scratch Remover Tool I cannot find...
Thank you, have a good time!

In PSPx9 you will find a bar full of tools on the left of your display. The makeover-blemish fixer tool icon looks like this:
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

O! I found it in the bar Red Eyes, I never used before!
How to handle this tool I must find out. My first look was not simply to understand the function of this tool.

Re: How to clean old photos?
Simple: you can adjust the size in pixels of the inner circle -- the part that obliterates what is inside it. The inner circle borrows from the outer circle to decide on the fill. I use it a lot to get rid of dust on things. Good tool. From your comment, I conclude you are experimenting. Good.psphufi wrote:O! I found it in the bar Red Eyes, I never used before!

Hey, that's great! Thank you!
Of course, experimenting is useful and important and helps to understand. So, if one cannot find out his problems, there is a wonderful board...
