Hello,
I am a long-time user of VideoStudio most recently using the X9 version, until today when I upgraded to Ultimate 2018.
After upgrading to 2018, I began a new project, and imported a number of photos and videos from an iphone (my most common source material). The photos imported perfectly, but the video files only show as black within the editor. I can hear audio, but have no picture. I have ensured all drivers are up-to-date, and installed the latest version of QuickTime just to be safe. I contacted support who told me they have an issues with MOV files and that I would need to convert all my files to MP4 format, which is not really viable for me due to the number of files being worked with.
As a long-time user of the software, I am really hoping someone here might have a better solution, as I am hesitant to look for and learn another tool... and it seems very strange to me that although they say they support MOV files, I am now being told that I have to convert them in order to have them supported.
Any help would be appreciated!
Tom

VS can certainly deal with .mov video. However, one thing VS does not like at all as yet is variable frame rates, and a lot of smart phones these days use variable frame rates. Can you right click one of your iPhone clips in the VS library window or timeline, regardless of whether it is showing only black, and look at what it says for the frame rate. If it does not say one of the standard frame rates (24 fps, 25 fps, 50 fps for PAL or 29.97/30 fps or 59.94/60 fps for NTSC) that is more than likely the problem. And I'm afraid the only solution of which we are aware is to convert the clips using similar properties but making sure the frame rate is one of the standard ones.

Thanks for the reply!Ken Berry wrote: Can you right click one of your iPhone clips in the VS library window or timeline, regardless of whether it is showing only black, and look at what it says for the frame rate. The Video Attributes if I Right-Click on the video and select properties is:
Compression: HEVC
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920x1080
Total frames: 222 frame(s)
Frame rate: 30.007 frames/sec
Duration: 7.398 seconds
If I need to convert the clip to a standard frame rate, is there a way to do this in VideoStudio or do I need to use a third party tool?
